If you're at liberty to discuss some of the complications, I for one would be interested in reading. It might clear up a few misconceptions in this thread and, perhaps, ultimately lead to a greater appreciation of what goes into a parade or other event like this.

Well, there would be tons of issues with the logistics of it, but off the top of my head? By making Snow White in Fantasmic Equity, that means Prince Charming must become Equity as well. Every face character in those roles would have to become Equity, which would mean they could not work as a "true" face character in parades, greetings, dining, etc. Also, anyone who is in those roles in the past would be owed retroactive pay as well, being paid the difference between their salary and a minimum Equity dancer salary (which is precisely what happened with all of the Cinderellabration dancers, who started off Teansters until Equity stepped in and got them all bumped up in pay grade due to the skill set used). Or, as Equity salaries are 100% negotiable, the artists could be owed different retroactive pays....blah blah blah.

And there is much more than this. But off the top of my head... Easier to take out the one lift, no?? Haha.

Don't get me wrong, I feel that all of Entertainment should have 1 union. It would help even out the playing field a bit and also probably put out somewhat better product. But that is a pricey proposition, and I don't think we will see that happen. Considering Equity is also the Broadway union, it would also mean that little Suzie who got a summer job as Rapunzel would be covered by the same union as seasoned stage veterans in NYC and entitled to many of the same rights. It would go over very poorly amongst the theatrical community.

So to sum it up what does all this mean for FOF? Very watered down choreography? No much use of the swings, etc?

The same composer of HIH is doing the soundtrack for FOF
Interesting!!! That makes me feel better! Any chance that composer did the HIH show stops? The're really good! I wish they would keep them after the 30th! Too bad TDL had to alter some dancers for the show stops.

Quick question, why can't they do the Fantasmic lifts but during Block Party Bash's run they kept the lifts in that choreography but I know those dancers weren't equity. I just always wondered how that worked.

Mark Hammond is the go-to guy for parade music right now. He did the music for Happiness is Here, Parade of Dreams, World of Color, World of Color Winter Dreams, and I believe Soundsational and Flights of Fantasy as well. I'm sure he has other credits I don't know about. Super talented.

Festivals music should be pretty amazing then! :)

Isn't Ariel in VOTLM a union gig? So does that mean that all performers in that role across WDW are unionized? I'm not sure that I buy that (though it certainly seems to make sense under union logic, where they want as many members as possible)

It just makes no sense to me why a singer and someone doing meet & greets at dinner need the same union support. Yes, they are playing the same character, but they have very different roles that are essentially unrelated to each other
