Feedback on new style

Yes and the layout of many websites have moved to this narrow format which irks me a bit, and something I will have to live with. I am guessing it is better for mobile users and not having to worry about scaling horizontally. If you are on a machine with a 4:3 screen or similar I am sure it goes fine too but for 16:9 or similar a lot is wasted.

It's basically 'fixed width' vs variable. It's much better in the long run because the page layout is predictable and much easier to kept tidy and effective. Those who are used to browsing full screen on high res or widescreen monitors it's a shock at first.. but you get used to it sooner than you think. The pros far outweigh the cons for the site administrator.

I reloaded firefox with no addons and see how it's supposed to look. I guess a stylesheet is being blocked? I'll have to figure out which one is the problem

You might want to see if a adblocker extentsion is being overactive... that is a common source of odd layouts

Oh, I just found the "quick navigation"! That's a great feature!

In the light blue bar at the top of the page (where it says Home>Forums>Help and Feedback) there is a tiny arrow at the right end of the bar. It opens a window to jump to a specific forum and other pages. Maybe there was something similar in the old style and I never found it... But I truly like it now in the new style.

There is quick screen shot guide of how to do this if anyone wants to check it out. It is a great feature!

I'm not fond of the orange color for the quotes..... maybe consider turning it into a light blue:

Just to keep with the sites overall blue-colored theme. Unless that's planning to change?

Also, I'm using the "liquid" full width style, but the excessive white background is killing my eyes.

The quick navigation is great. I had gotten used to moving from forum to forum on the old board using the similar pull down menu so the new one is a welcome constant.

The liquid width is also very much appreciated.

All I really find myself wishing for is clearer breaks between posts and even less white overall.

I do find the username in a post a little buried in both size (too small) and location (below instead of above the avatar) but I'll get used to it if it stays that way.

Just to be clear, I VERY MUCH appreciate the new board software and how smoothly it runs. I also know how much work you have already gone through to get to this point, especially in such a short amount of time. I've helped update/move a large message board a couple of times, and I know how hard it can be to strike that balance between taking advantage of the new look and options of the new software with the users' desire for everything to always look exactly the same forever.

Thank you for what you've done so far, and for being so willing to continue making changes. :)

Really don't like the layout at all sorry. Colours don't work and I can't understand why it's been changed at all? Any chance it could go back to the way it was?
The old system that the forums were running on is, frankly, out dated software at this point. You may (or may not) have noticed that in recent weeks the forums have been running very slowly, timing out, etc. An upgrade was needed - and for our forums I'm sure Steve chose the best option available on the market. I doubt there is any chance of going back to the old version - it wouldn't make sense.

Another like from the Miles1 household. Having a little background in IT, I know these things are a tremendous amount of work and rarely go as smoothly as this has. Good work Steve!

And being one of the, ahem, "more mature" members, I'm finding the new format a lot easier to read. If we didn't have change in our lives, you'd still be reading this in a magazine. Or not reading it at all.

Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the new forum. Very true on the comment about change. It is hard when we get so used to something being a certain way, but change drives progress and keeps things moving along.

Great update Steve! Like the new style!

Will there be (or is there) a way to change the default font/font-size of posts? Current font size is a tad large for my liking.

Steve, I just noticed my post count appears to have changed from before. Any idea what's up with that? It really doesn't matter to me one way or another, just curious.

How much has it changed by? During the move, there was a recalculation.

To tell you the truth, I really don't know, but I didn't think it was that high since I mainly post in Chit-Chat. Likie I said, it's no big deal to me, just curious.
