I like the update. Being in the IT world, I know how upgrades like these can be a challenge. Congrats on getting it done in just one night. I hope that you will be able to integrate the forums back into the "Latest Forum Posts" on the WDWMagic home page.

It depends how you use your browser. If you size the browser width to the size of the forum, you can have another window open beside it showing something else. If you open the browser to the maximum width of your screen, it may be wider than the forum, and there will be wasted space.

Yes and the layout of many websites have moved to this narrow format which irks me a bit, and something I will have to live with. I am guessing it is better for mobile users and not having to worry about scaling horizontally. If you are on a machine with a 4:3 screen or similar I am sure it goes fine too but for 16:9 or similar a lot is wasted.

Thanks!

Yes the front page forum list will return. And the entire front end of the website is also getting a rewrite, so we will be an all new WDWMAGIC in the next few months. The forums were brought forward in the plan due to performance issues.

Hrm...initial thoughts. Looks a lot plainer. The "dimmed" style helps add a little more contrast, so that's good. I think there's room for further contrast though in some of the ways others have mentioned, such as perhaps a little more post separation and such. Possibly even a slight variation in color every other post? I've seen that before on forums, where post A is a pale grey and post B is a slightly different pale grey, then post C is the same as post A's color, etc., etc.

Additionally, with a widescreen monitor, it definitely feels like there's a LOT of empty space on either side. Can it be expanded perhaps a little more? It feels like it's set to 50% of the screen. Perhaps if it were upped to 80% or something, then it would move with the width of the browser window; good for those who want multiple windows AND good for those who browse in full screen?

This is especially true for me on the main forum page where there's a whole sidebar on the right full of info. Makes the forum part feel very squished.

Will the quick links alerting to news come back? I really liked that little iframe previously and used it daily.

As for icons, right now I'm half cut out of mine, so I guess there's a new square format instead of the rectangular?

Also, I used to set my thread count to 30 or something. 10 annoys me because it means I have to flip pages very often. I didn't see that setting option now. Am I stuck on 10 only?

It's definitely faster which is good, but it just seems a little plain.

That is really strange. I'm running a test of FF13 on Windows 7 and cannot reproduce that.
I reloaded firefox with no addons and see how it's supposed to look. I guess a stylesheet is being blocked? I'll have to figure out which one is the problem

Crush Dude!

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!
Thanks!

Really don't like the layout at all sorry. Colours don't work and I can't understand why it's been changed at all? Any chance it could go back to the way it was?

I feel like I've gone to the Magic Kingdom to find it's been replaced by a six flags!

Excellent! Hopefully with a full blown Android app to follow. :)

There is now a full width style - WDWMAGIC Liquid.

Is there a way to change to number of posts per page? I can't seem to find that. But, the page count on some threads I'm quite familiar with just jumped a lot.

No there isn't. This is because it is now possible to link to specific pages of threads. eg. http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/feedback-on-new-style.838970/page-4

Allowing a user to change the number of posts per page would mean that a link to a page could result in a different set of posts appearing for different people.

Register on WDWMAGIC. This sidebar will go away, and you'll see fewer ads.
