Standby Pass is a way to wait in a long standby line without physically being in the line. If you choose to go get in line for a different attraction and end up missing the call back to the first one, you lose your place in line. So you just need to decide which line is more important to be in, kind of like how you decide that constantly already.

If you decide to hop to a different park, that would presumably mean that you've given up on waiting in the first line. This is not intended to be a comprehensive scheduling mechanism. It's a way to digitally wait in a really long line.

Hence its not practical for WDW...

You get the same question. If there is no way that you would ever be in that line, and there is already no empty spaces. Where does the space for YOU come from?

The space for me doesnt come from anywhere because there is none.

That's the point.

I'm not arguing why. But they are not cutting capacity they are increasing it. And it's only going to get more crowded.

The “excuse” is two-fold.

1) The parks still have a lot of “filler” offering shuttered. Things like most of DHS’s shows not being up are effectively making the only things to do these things with lines, sending more people into attractions.

2) Speaking of more people, attendance levels right now are sustainably high. Disney has even been upping capacity numbers without increasing offerings. Because of this, crowds are higher than where they were w/FP (on average), with fewer offerings, forcing people into lines.
The DHS shows still not in operation is embarrassing at this point, and I'm not even talking about Fantasmic. Is there any rumblings on an ETA?

At this point I have to agree, what is the hold up as to WDWs intentions? They have been pin drop quiet. They announced the dining plan is returning with no known date or details.

I see no reason why WDW does not announce whether FP is being discontinued or not and they are working towards a replacement. Even if that's all they say, at least it's something. The longer they say nothing the more people will think they are not.

Very possible but the crowds in October - December will be crazy and the guest experience will likely suffer

I guess they can just keep blaming Covid

Not sure why they wouldn't just roll it out now and test it in order to tweak it if necessary? (like they did with BG's)
We dont need FP back..............Standby lines are way better without FP

And this is a Tuesday in July.......Can you imagine a weekend day in October? FOP will be 4 hours

Like management is not meant to add ride capacity. Its actually meant to reduce it lol. Spread people around over multiple lines.

Are you actually willing to tell me that WDW does not need to put in place any kind of line management? This has nothing to do with whether it's free or not.
Again this says for the 20 years that they did nothing to add attractions to MK or any of the WDW parks...... Thats on TWDC not on its patrons.

Not really 90 minutes for Slinky is a lot better than when with FP+ would consistently would be 240 minutes

Yeah, on my last trip I did the Studios on day 1 so I could only get a Slinky FP for late in the day. I was done with that park by the afternoon, but I wanted to ride Slinky of course. It was a choice between a ludicrous stand-by line or waiting it out. I definitely felt like a bit of a hostage.

It's more an issue of just not having enough to do in the park (this was pre Galaxy's Edge). That park really needs a high capacity omnimover ride or something to add capacity.

This speaks to the notion that Fastpass works best on moderately busy days in parks with a decent number of attractions. At the Studios you get your one or two good FPs but everything else has longer wait times. Because of the limited offerings you may not even have the chance to get a fourth FP.

MK is much better because you can generally get 6 or more FPs as the day goes on, and there are some decent stand-by options that aren't a 4-hour wait for a moderately thrilling coaster.
