That actually sounds good to me.

My worry is in October that the virtual queues will fill up very early in the day before you even have a chance to join! I just don't want to start my mornings stressed to get to the park so I can join virtual queues.
I don't quite think it will be like that. When the parks open most lines will be standby. Only when they reach a certain threshold will they swap over to virtual. If they keep the actual wait times reasonable (~30 min) this could be a good thing especially if only one can be held at a time.

Now, as far as paid FP - if they get rid of the ridiculous tiering and I can get a batch of 3 for Slinky, Millennium Falcon, and Mickey, then I'll be willing to jump. But if I have to buy in batches of 3 for the frozen sing-along then I'm out.

It’s not a virtual queue as RotR is known for.

First, you've never been guaranteed.

Second, all this is is saying you line up virtually and come back to the standby line when it's your turn. It's just you spend the bulk of the time being able to do something else. I suspect many will like that fact. It's to prevent 2 hour lines.

I was guaranteed 3 day passes per park ticket. Maybe not the exact time but a 1 hour window that I can plan around. I've never NOT gotten a ride that I wanted selecting them in advance. I've even said I'd pay for extra for convinience after 3. Again, like I said the people who complain about the current system and the longer standby waits CHOOSE to put themselves in that situation. They cant choose to not use fast pass..and the tell everyone the stand by lines are too long. It does not work like that.

I mean, would I be GUARANTEED 100% no doubt about be able to ride any ride I want to at a certain time? Otherwise I dont buy this. Sorry. I dont buy it. This would be Disney telling everyone that you pay for a theme park ticket and now we tell you when you can get on the popular rides. I hope they have the cast members trained to handle cancellations and irate guests on the phone over the next few months. Either they upgrade me to a deluxe resort or I cancel my trip. I didn't pay 10k for a week in disney to be told I cant get on 2 or 3 rides when I want no questions asked.
You’re buying a specific FP, or a bundle of FPs assuming they do what Shanghai does. And from the images you get told what times are available when you buy it.

And then you check to see if the next thing you want to ride has a VQ slots available. If not, and you don’t want to wait in a physical line, then you can buy an FP for it. But if there are no FPs left then you’re out of luck.

There are no guarantees you can ride everything you want, if there are no FPs and no VQ slots available.

There is no guarantee you will be able to ride everything you want to.

😐

Vacation really shouldn't be this complicated.
This is supposed to be simpler. See we don't or I should I say can't reserve any FP ahead of time.

The ability to plan has been taken away(if they actually follow the China DPA model) and for me it was the main difference between and WDW and everywhere else. I hate the thought mysef.

I wouldn't be frustrated if they just made FP paid-only. Like, yeah, it would suck, but the worrisome thing is that this is going to affect standby too.

I really don't like the idea of Disney being able to close queues at-will. With Rise, I get it - but imagine not being able to go on Haunted Mansion because Disney wants you to pay $10 to wait in a short queue.
There’s the Standby Return option for free if you can’t join the physical standby queue.

That's assuming that they act in good faith though (and we know that's often not the case with Disney now). Who's to say that they just close off the line even though it would only be 30-45 minutes just because they want people to buy-in?
They're not saying you have to buy in here. They are saying that you line up in standby virtually. Then you come back when they call you. This is different than the paid skip the line thing.

I’m sorry but this is the dumbest thing I’ve heard from Disney and they have done a lot of dumb stuff over the years. They are making vacations even more confusing and complicated but they don’t care anymore about guest experience, only guest money, and I think this could hurt them more than help

Rise shouldn't even be closed to standby anymore. When does it end? Will it ever be standby?
