Fantasyland Rumor Gaining Steam

I wonder if there is some formula they use to decide how to rank animated films and their representation in the parks.
I'm still waiting for The Black cauldron to be represented.
I asked Steve Davidson why he didn't use the Horn King in WOC and create a segment of him rising the dead instead of reusing the chernobog from Fantasmic.
He laughed and said the chernabog was more popular. So instead of being original he duplicated a scene that was already used in Fantasmic.

It's a shame that they don't use more of their large library of movie characters within the parks. They do t all need to be made Into rides. It I bet that if they used them in entertainment or even walk around characters and merchandise they would easily add a demand from fans and collectors. Look at how the hat box ghost expanded their sales even though it was just a character known be the minority of guests that visit the parks. There is only a certain amount of mermaid, frozen and toy story merchandise one can buy before getting tired of it and just stop buying

It looks like the Big Hero 6 ride is just a version of Mater from DCA? I think that's what were seeing in this pic?

Yes, an indoors version. Should fill the void left by the Star Jet's removal.
I really wish they would stop re-skinning these ride mechanisms...that being said, it will be unique to Tokyo as I don't think they are using this system for anything else.

Would be nice if they didn't turn Toontown into Fantasyland at all... If they want to do something else with it then turn it into a different kind of toon town... Pull in other Disney Cartoons from the 80's and 90's like Gummi Bears or Ducktales... No need to expand the Fantasyland Princess garbage... Disney needs to focus on finding rides and attractions that will get boys to enjoy the park instead of turning it into a pure princess park.

Maybe we can replace star tours with 'The Voyage to the Black Hole" with V.I.N.C.E.N.T. piloting!

Whoa...!
That would be awesome!
Bring it on....the galaxy is big enough, and how ironic would it be having 'Disney's answer to Star Wars' located across from where the new galaxy is being built..?

Yeeessss!!!!
( Geeks out )

Totally agree.

The Horned King was indeed used in a walk through Attraction over at Tokyo Disneyland.
The neat 'Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour' took you below ground underneath to experience encounters and settings featuring various Disney villains.
An showdown between tour Guests and the Horned King was the creepy yet cool grand finale of the experience.
The walk through operated for 20 years, and closed in 2006.

The link below is to a article that has a good description of the Attraction, and there are a few videos of the walk through as well.
More can be found on YouTube if you would like the have a look.

I'd want to see a clone of the Beauty and the Beast attraction from Tokyo more then anything. And why does the Lion King or Aladdin not get any love with their own big attractions?

At Disneyland we are hearing that Fantasyland Theater and Motorboat Cruise area is planned for a ‘New Fantasyland’ makeover, not quite to the scale of Walt Disney World, but the same idea. Expect Something from “Frozen” and “Beauty and the Beast.” Would not be surprised if these were similar to what Toyko Disneyland is getting.

The strongest rumor is for a “Be Our Guest” restaurant addition and a Belle Meet and Great like Enchanted Tales with Belle from MK’s new Fantasyland over where the Motorboat Cruise was and a Frozen attraction where the Fantasyland Theatre is now. Not sure how they could build the Be Our Guest Restaurant and Beasts Castle without re-routing the Monorail in that area. That’s an expensive proposition.

Fans of TownTown will be happy to hear the plan is to save that area, but Star Wars land has removed any chance of it expanding in the future.

Heard these rumors first from @vashsky from twitter but the disney blog did a nice summary of all the rumors

Yeah, but I think it's better than just cloning the Tea Cups or Dumbo over and over, which is what they've done since WDW opened.

From the link:

"I’ll be sorry to see Star Tours go, but the new theme for Tomorrowland is something big. The entire concept of Tomorrowland might be scrapped for something that is less subject to the ever quickening place of technological enhancement. No building, except for Space Mountain, is sacred in this vision."

I like the sound of this. The more ambitious Disney gets with its strategy the more I approve.

It is... but I think Cars is wearing thin, they haven't really managed to milk much from Marvel to get the very young boys which only leaves Star Wars.... which is fine and will be attractive to the young male audience but it is still only one franchise which means if your little boy doesn't like Star Wars then he isn't going to enjoy much of Star Wars land at all... vs the Fantasyland concept for little girls has multiple movies so if a little girl doesn't connect with one movie she might will with another, much better when they have some diversity.

I don't think you have to like Star Wars to enjoy a SW Land. I can't stand the Harry Potter franchise (I know, I know), but WWoHP is something that I'm interested in experiencing.

I understand there is the curiosity factor... but if you were a little kid that probably isn't going to be as much of a driver and even if it did cause the 5 year old to want to see Star Wars land even though they didn't like the movie it probably wouldn't cause them to want to do it over and over, which is what you want little kids to want if your trying to push your theme park.
