Fantasyland Expansion Officially Begins

Phase 1 is a big phase...they're probably just not done filing permits. And it could be that this contractor only has "Beauty and the Beast" land, and another contractor has "Mermaid Land". All the notices filed today were by one contractor.

Also, the bulk of the Little Mermaid attraction area is already a flat, level ground. The Cindy/BATB area has a lot more demolition and ground-leveling to be done first.

(And for those looking through the permits, AG = Ariel's Grotto and SL = Scuttle's Landing...)

FYI - The parking area seen behind Ariel's Grotto in Google Maps has been cleared and has had a construction fence placed around it since last week.

Indeed.

And thanks for the insight on AG and SL. I was straining my brain on those. Makes perfect sense now!

Looks like a job for a monopod to peak over the walls

It's interesting that they mentioned the Tunnels in the permits. I've been wondering how the blueprints for the underground stairwells and elevators matched up with the proposed blueprints for the new FL. Hard to imagine them doing major work on the infra/under-structure, but I guess it will have to be done.

I would imagine that they'll do a lot of work clearing that whole AG/SL area since it's so close to the back of the park where those parking lots are... not to mention the bldg that's probably being redone to house LM. Makes sense, to give them more space. Or to work on what will be accessible first. Either way.
