i'm sorry if this is a dumb question that has already been answered... but why will the walls only be up til may? what could they accomplish in that time (besides demolishing everything, which would still require the walls to be up after they are through)

How appropriate the walls in Fantasyland go up shortly after the walls in Paradise Pier go down.

Paradise Park walls came down, but a large section of them are still up for The Little Mermaid.. with even more coming to the pier later this year.

I'm wondering if, after the demolition, they'll build some sort of earthen berm (similar to the one around the back edge of Playful Spot) where they can plant trees and stuff, so that the area looks somewhat nice, while still blocking out the view of construction beyond it. That would work in many areas, and could stay until well into the construction phase. (Though some places would be a bit too close to the construction to leave room for a berm, like near the Village Haus bathrooms, and would still require a wall of some sort)

The alternative is two or more full years of dull construction walls along the northern end of Fantasyland.

Yet another possiblity, they could be putting up these walls for demoltion and then construction of longer-term, themed construction walls behind these temp walls, similar to the one we saw for Haunted Mansion a few years ago... (It also started as a plain wall, and then had a themed wall built)

Hate to ask this, but for me I can't really picture in my head where the wall is running. Does anyone have a map and could overlay where the wall is currently positioned?

Thank you in advance if you can and if not, thank you still.

They run from Pinochio Village Haus to Town Town Fair.

The walls across from Pooh's Playful Spot (right in front of the Pooh Attraction) seem to indicate that they will, in fact, move the tree over there.

I thought it was just a rumor. Anyone else notice that?

No it isn't a rumor, it's happening :)

Because they will only be there for a month.

What is being done in this area in the small amount of time. Is the plan to slowly move the walls back or what?

If it's major demolition, I would assume the walls would stay in some capacity.

The other way I read this was that construction walls will be going up through May 2010 meaning the simple set up of construction walls would take until May 2010 as they prepare a large area for construction.

This isn't just a coincidence really. I have thought for awhile that the two projects are somewhat coordinated. Especially the Little Mermaid projects. So I think it is more accurate to tie the fact that LM has gone vertical at DCA at nearly the same time foundation work begins at WDW.

Glad to see all the walls go up. That DVC 'tent' had a short life. Perhaps now folks here will start to realize TDO has changed. In the old days they would have designed the new FLE around the DVC booth. But these aren't the old days anymore.
