You have to remember that its not all about you. The parade was meant to capture the next generation growing up in the parks now. So yeah I think it can last 25+ years or more. Plus they can always refresh the songs and tweak them just like they did with MSEP. I just happen to like Owl City so the song rocks for me.

Well my opinion is all about me. Your entitled to yours as well. I'm a gambler and I will say the odds are extremely low that the PTN soundtrack lasts over 40 years.

They should adjust the lyrics if it's meant to capture the next generation of parkgoers.

When can we do this again
Let's all come every weekend
Annual passes are bomb
Who cares if the lines are long
We can just come back again
How 'bout we come next weekend

You missed the chorus.

Let's ride the mansion again.
Oh oh oh oh
Hitchhiking ghosts are my friends
Oh oh oh oh
It's time to goooo
35 times in a row!

I never said 40 years, I said 25 years. MSEP soundtrack didn't even last 40 years. It was changed several times over its run, including 10 years afters its initial debut. Then it was updated again 30 years later to what we have now.

Actually one of the best things about PTN was the soundtrack. Most people I know loved PTN and hope it comes back real soon. MSEP while a great nighttime parade for its day, still feels tired just like when it left. PTN is a refreshed version for the 21st century and I hope it stays around for years.
At least Tokyo keeps their version of MSEP up to date by adding new floats and has been running for 17 years now.

1972 thru 2017 = 45 years.

It's the same song with some minor tweaks. It won't last 25 years. I'll bet you a Signature pass. Or whatever they ll call it in 25 years.

While that is nice, it still looks old and outdated to me. Don't get me wrong I like MSEP for the nostalgia of when I was a kid in the early 80s making that trip from the Bay Area down to DL. But I like PTN for the use of technology, newer Disney characters, and updated soundtrack. My favorite is the use of Life is a Highway for the Cars section.

Um, the song that you are used to now is from 1977. It was changed with tempo and arrangement making it different from the original 1967 of BH. Also it was changed again in 2009, using the same variation as Tokyo MSEP which again was changed in tempo and arrangement.

However I will say for this last run they went back to the 1977 version. So it hasn't been a continuous use of the same soundtrack for 45 years.

So they weren't using the barouque hoedown from 72- 77? So 40 years then?

I noticed you didn't take me up on that bet.

Actually the current MSEP music is borrowed from the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights soundtrack but with some minor changes and new music.

(Original Tokyo version)

(The borrowed Tokyo music for MSEP)

The most notable being the main theme missing a few beats while the original one from Tokyo contained more beats. Such as the missing electronic "High Ho" heard during the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs section that was borrowed for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Cart float as heard in 12:23 mark of the Tokyo soundtrack video.

Which said music was originally exclusive to Tokyo's updated and revamped version of MSEP that began in 2001.

If you see my updated to my post it has not been the same version continuously for all 45 years of the parade. It hasn't even been the same for the last 40 years.

As far as the bet that is silly. There is no gain for either of us. I only gamble when I have something to gain.

While I understand PTN being for a different generation. Such as using more modern Disney films and being a bit more Pixar focused. I prefer how Tokyo handled it by both balancing Pixar and past and present Disney films equally.

Actually I believe they went back to the 1977 version with some corrections for this 2017 run.

Because people don't like change and they think that the new version will be terrible because they're used to the old for whatever years. **cough** GOTG:MB **cough**

Comparing altering F! to MB is like comparing apples to oranges.

MB was able to distance itself enough from Tot that it doesn't feel like "tot" (from what I can tell from y'alls reviews) but everytime someone sees F!, the changes will stick out since we've been conditioned for 25 years. When we see the Columbia and all the performers and stuff, I will be very much reminded of Pan and will judge the scene that much harder.

The closest example I can think of is the live action beauty and the Beast- every change in the songs, and the new songs all really stood out to me. I mentally rejected them- because it wasn't the Beauty and the Beast I was used to.

It just tells me that your confidence is low

To each their own as they say. I believe Disney was looking to the future when PTN was created. So while nostalgia is strong at DL they need to refresh things and introduce new things to bring in the new generations.

No, my confidence it actually pretty high that it'll be around for years. But as we know things change all the time at DLR. Management changes as well. So we don't know what the next management will do. They may decide that a night time parade is too expense to run and cut it completely. That is why I won't bet.
