I think the idea shows it that large, but in reality it isn't going to the service road.... right they are doing prep behind itally while they have trailers with extra restrooms next to the service road in america.

It would be a great nice "new decade" present to get an Italian pavilion expansion. Even if it is just a pizzeria. Though if that scaled land parcel diagram is accurate, it would absolutely be more than just a quick-service restaurant. This is the kind of rumor I can sink my teeth into! :sohappy:

If the scale markers on Google maps and on the permit form were correct, that's to scale. I matched them as exactly as possible. I was also really surprised, as I expected it to be much smaller.

That being said, it doesn't say anywhere that the building will be that size. Just the "construction area." That could include pretty much anything - even just landscaping. Or where they'll park the trucks.

But man I really wish it'd be something special...

Well if they do use that entire space so much for any chances for a ride ever being added to Italy in the future. Guess it wasnt going to happen anyway. The extra dining is needed though. I guess it will be connected to Tutto? I wish they would make a better name for that place lol.

Perhaps it will be similar to the Mexico pavilion in that it will be a covered themed area with an eatery, shops and small exhibits. I'd be OK with that.

I know there are some who consider WS a "mall" but the indifference towards the untapped potential for those countries is ridiculous. Italy, Japan, France, Morocco and especially Germany need real attractions.

Meh, France is fine the way it is.

The others, YES. :D Especially for Japan and Germany, in which actual rides were proposed. Three for Japan at one point!

Pizzeria di Pompeii: Blasting into the Italy Pavilion for 2010.

/ Smothered in cheese. And ash. But mostly cheese.
Instead of Roman ruins or the Colisseum, maybe the pizzeria will be themed to look like it's embedded in the slope of Vesuvius?

"Enjoy your pizza hearth-baked inside the mighty raging volcanic fire of Vesuvius itself..."

I could dig that.

Especially since Germany and Japan have actual show buildings. Heck, the German show building is bigger than the entire guest-accessible German area. They seriously need a ride in there. I know people might not be excited by another boat ride but what about some kind of Autobahn-themed ride?

Basically, anything except Donald Duck's Rhine River Cruise or the Blitzkreig! Polish Invasion.

Hah!

Seriously though, what could they put in there? As said, another boat ride would be repetitive.

I wouldn't mind...

 Anything else would be fine. The Italy pavilion is one of my least favorites mainly due to its lack of things there.

I still want the Rhine River Cruise. Yes, it's another boat ride, but it's something.

As for Japan, well, at least Meet The World. Maybe obsolete by some, but still a great show nonetheless. Or the bullet train concept. :lookaroun

And what else would work? A dark ride through German history?
