Expert's Planned Attraction Updates?

Good point.

They would need to build a new M&G anyway, or just put her in some random place in FL. With the lines she draws, they will probably need a lot of free space, though.

Just build something simple in FLE for her along the same lines as Donalds ne M&G in WS.

Interesting... I would have though Lasseter's involvement in the franchise would have offered it some amount of protection.
Still might. I can't say for sure PH is dead, although multiple sources have hinted as much in the last 48hrs.

But I have always assumed they will at least create a dedicated Tink M&G. They'll have riots on their hands if they don't at least preserve that.
Agreed. Tink will need a home.

Do you konw if it will be replaced by anything or just a bunch of grass and trees?
Nope. This is still all very much fluid.

The question is, is there anything on the pipeline as a possible replacement for PH if the project does not materialize? Or are we just getting trees and grass?
Unknown. As I said above, it's still a pretty fluid situation. Stay tuned.

Hmmm...perhaps they will dust off the Tink plans for the FL Skyway station from a few years back...

Based on all the rumors, I've assumed PH would be drastically reduced from the original concept art. But I have always assumed they will at least create a dedicated Tink M&G. They'll have riots on their hands if they don't at least preserve that.

Please don't give in to Lee's overly-negative and hateful propaganda. Please don't... :(

You would probably need something a little more significant given her current home often has 60+ minute waits.

I really like this idea, as it puts her close to Pan and uses an otherwise wasted space. If there's enough room, they could really do something cool with it. The whole "shrinking" think could also work given the height of that area.

If they were wise they would replace PH with a C (or higher) ticket ride and convert the FL skyway to a Tink M&G. Doing that would probably end about 60-80% of the complaints about the FLE.

Maybe I'm cynical but my guess is if PH gets cut, that's just one less thing coming to the MK.

Agreed. Tink will need a home.

As long as they keep a place for kids to meet Tink, that's all they really need.

Are you able to say what the objections are to PH?

I wonder if PH is considering being cut because of TDO, or because Imagineering maybe wanting to do something better, different, or more classic.

I think this would be a big thing to know in regards to Disney's position. Objections to just Pixie Hallow would be very different to objections to a project that is not developing well and different to just trying to save money for the other projects involved.

I can tell you what my second/ third hand info is...

The higher levels in Burbank are very antsy about:
- Lack of an attendance driver
- Lack of any real capacity boost via FLE
- The girl-centered nature of the FLE

What it all means?

With capacity being an issue, does the park really need a big attendance driver before more, secondary capacity is added?

This is kind of a tough thing to address. Effectively they're asking for high capacity attractions that have no demand.

The internal talk I had heard was that there was no anticipation of a substantial attendance boost from the Fantasyland expansion, but it would result in a capacity boost. I would say that a major refurbishment to Peter Pan could also result in sight capacity boost as well.

An attendance boost to the Magic Kingdom would require a major E-Ticket attraction, presumably a thrill ride of sorts.

Well we know for a fact that the utilidors were his idea. Also the basic location of the MK on the vast property. We also know he was heavily involved with abstract and preliminary concepts for E.P.C.O.T. which he intended for the southern part of the property. Wasn't he also involved with the MK monorail and Contemporary designs?

The idea that he didn't have some discussions with Imagineering about his vision for the MK is naive it seems to me. Fantasy Forest seems very Walt-esque to me.

When Walt died in December, 1966 there still hadn't been much thought given to the Florida version of Disneyland. In his famous EPCOT Film produced on October 27, 1966 (about six weeks before his death), Walt stood before maps and sketches of the entire "Florida Project". And the Magic Kingdom property was there at the north end of the land, and it was an exact cut and paste of Disneyland circa 1966. You can see this Disneyland as Magic Kingdom map on the excellent EPCOT '66 DVD released by Disney a few years ago, freeze the frame and see that it's Disneyland, right down to the Matterhorn and StorybookLand and the Indian Village and Autopia.

This screen shot from that October 27th, 1966 filming shows the far corner of the "theme park" used as the weinie in the Florida Project, and again it's clearly Disneyland even from that little tiny corner of the park. There's the Haunted Mansion show building next to New Orleans Square and the two Pirates of the Caribbean show buildings, across from Fowler's Harbor where the Sailing Ship Columbia docks next to the Indian Village. It's Disneyland, circa 1966.

The earliest WDI artwork depicting designs for what we now know as the Magic Kingdom is dated 1968, two years after Walt had died. But the more telling thing is the attractions roster of Magic Kingdom Fantasyland versus Disneyland Fantasyland circa 1971 when WDW opened.

Disneyland Fantasyland 1971
Matterhorn Bobsleds - E Ticket
it's a small world - E Ticket
Storybookland Canal Boats - D Ticket
Skyway to Tomorrowland - D Ticket
Peter Pan's Flight - C Ticket
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride - C Ticket
Snow White's Scary Adventures - C Ticket
Alice in Wonderland - C Ticket
Casey Jr. Circus Train - C Ticket
Motorboat Cruise - B Ticket
Dumbo the Flying Elephant - B Ticket
Mad Tea Party - B Ticket
King Arthur's Carousel - B Ticket
Fantasyland Theater - B Ticket
Sleeping Beauty Castle Diorama - A Ticket

Magic Kingdom Fantasyland 1971
20K Leagues Submarine Voyage - E Ticket
it's a small world - E Ticket
Skyway to Tomorrowland - D Ticket
Peter Pan's Flight - C Ticket
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride - C Ticket
Snow White's Scary Adventures - C Ticket
Dumbo the Flying Elephant - B Ticket
Mad Tea Party - B Ticket
Cinderella's Royal Carousel - B Ticket

The Magic Kingdom version of Fantasyland used only clones from Disneyland, and they only chose the most popular of those.

To think that this 2012-13 update and expansion of Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland somehow gets back to the original concept Walt sketched on his deathbed but told no one about in late 1966 would seem to be wishful thinking.

It's probably best to just let Walt's plans for a cut and pasted cloned Disneyland remain in 1966, and thank the current crop of Imagineers and Orlando management for bringing us this 21st century version of Fantasyland. FLE is a classy and stylish update to the 1971 park.

Heck, look what Walt Disney's Fantasyland looked like in the 1960's when he passed away! The 1971 version of WDW's Fantasyland was an upscale model of sophistication and sleek style in comparison to how Walt built his own Fantasyland!

Maybe the nervousness Lee talks about will result in the addition of one more attraction. The B&TB AA show maybe? Another smaller dark ride? Or a couple of them? Maybe import Roger Rabbit's cartoon spin with the circus theme. I cannot remember the name of the short film (Roller Coaster Rabbit?) but that could fit in well. And it would be boy friendly.
