I LOVED Horizons...I was only 9 on my last ride in 1999,but I remember it like yestarday! One of Disney's best rides:Optimistic and poised for the future-What could be better?

While we are on the subject, anyone get the new retro EPCOT Center pin featuring Horizons yet?I got mine last week at WDW and I loooooove it.:D

just a little info for you. so you dont think all is lost from horizons there are a few projectors stored in space mountiain in the back of the building for cast members only, there are a few things stored at space back there. for the people that liked that little sub ride there are some fish hidden in space too. thats thanks to a cm sneaking in taken them before it was taken apart. you never know what you will see when youre not looking for it. its not always hidden mickeys. but sorry off topic:brick:

Horizons class of 1996! :sohappy:

Almost didn't go in it because I thought it was an office building :lookaroun

Besides SSE, the Universe of Energy to me embodies a classic world's fair attraction with or without Ellen and Bill Nye due to the large theater and format screens.

Horizons was a beautiful ride, simply stunning, except the sweatshirt moms and walkman playing teenagers found the ride boring and GE pulled out in 1994 and then a sinkhole somehow opened up and the rest is history :drevil:

***you can still smell the same oranges on Soarin'! :)

I thought the same thing last week!Brought back good memories!

I loved the part with Jules Verne in the rocket, the man-in-the-moon with the rocket in his eye...

I loved the 50's vision of tomorrow and was hypnotized the the rotating latices of the silicon chip (as we'd pass by the scene, I'd stare transfixed as the whole room seemed to twist around.

As has been already mentioned, the smell of the orange grove was cool.

My step-brother and I always chose the desert and water endings.

If we can dream it, we can do it.

As much as I hate to say it, Horizons is my favorite WDW attraction of all time (sorry Figgie!). It still gives me chills to listen to the audio or when watching ride videos online. It's sorely missed and will continue to be missed as long as Epcot is open.

+1. Well said.

Boy have I! I remember it fondly. When I first rode it at 10 or 11, I hadn't seen anything like it. I don't know if I've truly seen anything quite like it since.

Oh yea, Ive been on Horizons, many times. It was a wonderful ride. Really miss it too. I wish they could have kept it, and built M:S where the now defunct Wonders of Life now sits. I love M:S but I loved me some Horizons.

WOM was great too, but I think TT is a better fit now. Itd be nice to have them both, but TT is great.

I have some old video of taking my neice on Horizons and when we were flying over NYC you can hear her go "Oh... my... gosh...". I took her when she was 6 and 8, couldn't wait until I had my own kids :)

I'll see if I can upload it, I'm sure theres plenty of good footage out there. Agree on so many of the memories y'all drummed up, especially the oranges and the 50's view, there was something so cool about that too.

Oh, well, DANG. HorIZonS DoESn'T ROcK!

Or am I just asking for it.....:lookaroun

I miss this ride, too. I really enjoyed it each time I went to EPCOT when I was younger. We had a lot of school field trips in the 80's so I got lucky because EPCOT was "the in place" for school field trips.

Granted I spent much of the quality time at EPCOT trying to get different boy's attention over the years....

So I am fond of the dark rides the most. :D
