Great update, thanks!!
Thanks for the updates and pictures!
Are you planning on going to MK anytime soon? I see you haven't had an MK update since July. Just wondering....no pressure :animwink:
And can we keep park hour debates to the "More park hour cuts" thread?
The 2 a.m. closes were in effect for summers in the 1989-90 timeframe. They weren't part of the original plan, but were the result of huge crowds and lack of attractions.
But 11 p.m. and midnight closings were in fact often the case during summer, Spring Break and Christmas during the park's first decade of operation.
Thanks for the updates and pictures!

STOP! PotatoTime!
Thanks for another great photo update, Travis. I am looking forward to seeing the lights in 10 days! Where was the cat located?
Uhm ... ah ... nah!
Yes, OVER TIME it has been open late. But as is how it's been the past few years, 8PM is a usual closing time.
Look, I moan about decreasing park hours and the evil of EMH all the time. But as one who's extremely familiar with how Studios works both on and off stage, 8PM wasn't a problem last night. Not an issue. Complaining better spent over Epcot's hours.
Merf? Is that you? :ROFLOL::animwink:
Actually, that's not the case. I know for a fact there have been plenty of regular 9 and 10 p.m. closings (often with a 10:30 Fantasmic) ... many of these have been on EMH nights because I've been at The Park Formerly Known as The Disney-MGM Studios until after 1 a.m.
And while I don't have operating schedules handy, I'd be willing to bet that the Studios have had at least 9 or 10 closings this week the past few years.
Good. It's worthy of moaning ... and ... and complaining ... and ridiculing ... and making fun of EMH's mama.
But the problem of constantly giving less and charging more is widespread. You can't simply focus on one facet or one park. Like I've said many times before (even here now) WDW has systematically been cutting back hours now for a very long time. I understand them doing so in tough time or when the crowds aren't there. That only makes sense. Good business sense and as a stockholder, I can and do support that.
BUT ... to make these cuts pre-emptively ... well, that's not smart. It's not good business. And it's not EXCEEDING GUEST EXPECTATIONS.
Disney tosses out 9-7 as the typical MINIMUM hours its Florida parks will be open daily. Adding one whole hour during a very busy holiday week is really just not very kewl.
I'm sorry, but in this thread it's making a Mountain out of a mole hill.
>_<
Please, PLEASE take this to the hour threads....I wasn't looking to get into ANY of the "cutbacks" flame wars upon us...

I'm not looking to get into any 'flame wars' ... I'm just discussing something. These are discussion boards.
If you don't like the post either disagree with it or ignore it.
I felt I had a valid point and brought it up.
And I disagree with your point entirely ... giving guests less while charging them more isn't making a mountain out of a molehill unless you're living in Fantasyland and high on pixie dust.
