Epcot WS Drunks

The example of a group of 20-somethings having a peaceful, if slightly loud, good time and doing nothing worse than laughing and dropping the occasional conversational F-bomb (something I see almost every visit during Food & Wine) - comes immediately to mind. I'm out of my 30s and don't have any kids, so it doesn't really affect me. But I find myself cringing nonetheless, because we are invariably surrounded by others whom I can't imagine, given the choice, would have their kids seeing and hearing that during the family vacation. And suggesting that such people should stay out of that park is simply nonsense.

Thank you. Yes. This is a problem. :(

Kids don't ignore this kind of thing when exposed to it. Their little eyes and ears are drawn to it. This behavior is inconsiderate and rude, (and not necessarily tied to drinking).

I have to doubt that there has been much of an increase in drinking in the park as a result of PI closing. I am sure there are plenty of other clubs for people to go to where you don't pay an $80 "cover charge."

To everyone talking about the screaming kids- I have to say as a parent that I am up a creek no matter what I do. If I allow my child to do what he pleases then people would be upset about how he acted (never happens by the way!) If I simply speak to him about his behavior there are sure to be people who talk (very loudly) about how that just isn't enough. If I actually punish him then people throw fits about him being punished. Let me give you an example... at the Easter event at the local zoo my son continued to touch something after I told him to stop. Of course it fell and broke. (In his defense it was broken before and simply pieced together.) I immediately told him, in my mommy voice, to pick it up and hold it to present to the people who work there so that he could apologize. I did not scream, hit or pinch him or anything like that. I was simply making him own up to what he had done. In response to this some stranger shouted a word that rhymes with witch at me and then loudly started telling everyone who would listen what a stupid mother I am. Really lady? Really? Occassionally my son will refuse to listen to an instruction and after a warning I will put him in an out of the way corner for a time out. I have gotten nasty looks, talked about and even shouted at for this. He is never in their way, they just don't a child having consequences. They also really hate that during his time outs I don't talk to him, I have gotten numerous comments from strangers over ignoring my child before! I know after this you are all probably thinking that my son is horrible but he really is a good boy. He is just 4 years old. It is an age where kids test their limits!

They are putting their income right back into the company that gave it to them. So who cares?

And again, people on these boards are over using the words "bad show" like they know what they are talking about. "Good Show/Bad Show" is mainly used as a costuming term. It has nothing to do with off-duty employees enjoying the perks of their employment from a company that pays them way too little to begin with.

I believe I do know what Im talking about, I was a core trainer at Epcot, so I think I am able to use the term correctly. ANything that is not adding to the "Disney Show" is taking away from it. Costuming is a part of it, but there is much more to a 'show" than just what the performers are wearing. Pay has nothing to do with how they act in the park on off time. If you are using your ID to enter the park, you are expected to act appropriately.

I agree. Just because the company has gotten away from it's core beliefs doesn't mean the terms have changed meaning.

Also, an employee represents his employer whether they are on the clock or off.

I'm not against booze, let's just not kid ourselves about it.

EXAMPLES:

More people are killed by alcohol related deaths in America than all illegal drugs combined.

Alcohol IS A DRUG - you put it into your body and it alters your perception and or mental stae of being= DRUG.....so if you say you don't do drugs, but occasionally drink, you do drugs.

It is amazing in this country how we can justify some drugs and not others that may in fact be more harmless........I don't do "illegal" drugs anymore since years ago but do occasionally toss back a few drinks still. after 39 years of experience with these matters, I have seen some peoples lives uprooted and basically ruined by law enforcment because they had a dime bag of pot.
while the same people who did the uprooting (so to speak) slurp back booze all night. But they don't do drugs, remember?

so my point is : drink responsibly while in the parks, please have a great time, but not at the expense of others vacation.

o.k. - roast me!!!!!!!

I have never really been affected by "drunk people" running around causing chaos in the parks, however I have heard about this kind of behavior from other people that I know who have visited the parks and behaved in this way (mostly late at night). I was not impressed, but it happened at about 1:00am, so it didn't really bug me that much to hear about it.

Anyways, my take on it is that there is likely (somebody help me out here) some kind of "code of conduct" that is listed on the tickets, or at the entrance, that speaks to this. If it is against the code of conduct, then that is pretty clear. The good news is, as someone mentioned earlier, these people will be tossed, so it really should not be a big issue.

It'd be pretty mellow. But there would be doritos & oreo cakester stands every 10ft.

Yes, I think the vendors & resturants would do well- "yes, could I have an herbal tab and 7 dole whips please?"

Think main street confections would be out of rice crispy treats by noon?

Personally, I think the characters would freak me out to much these days, maybe in my twenties I could have handled it.

The British Invasion could change their look to a Sgt. Pepper theme! But would people complain about the behavior of someone under the influence of an "herbal tab" as much as someone who is drunk?

Hi my husband and I visit disney often and we have noticed a more drunken crowed during that Food Festival and also on the weekends. I am sure when they act this way they are excorted out of the park it don't last too long for them. Disney does not put up with ________ any more.
That is one of the biggest reason they shut down Pleasure Island there were a lot of minors who would check in before hand and they would hide out and sneak drinks. So now they try I guess at Epcot but I am sure it doesn't last too long for them. I have seen adults acting so ridicilious too. They should be ashmed of themselves for real.
