Epcot WS Drunks

Epcot is a place where adults can be adults. I'm guilty of it as well and the alcohol isn't going anywhere.

I have no problem with the alcohol. But, adults being adults means acting responsibly. By all means have a good time, but if folks are going to ruin everyone else's time with drunken disorderly behavior, than they are not being adults. And they need to go.

On another comment concerning the out of control kids, I say we need similar rules. If parents can't stop their children from behaving like monsters screaming and smacking people with whatever they have in their hands, out they go too.

I have escorted my kid out of places really fast when the behavior goes south. Teaches a lesson and we don't have that behavior any more.

Seems like there would be a lot of people buzzed during the Food and Wine Festival - it does have "Wine" in the title. :ROFLOL:

I've yet to go, but I'd love to soon.

A drink from every country, including our ritual of an Irish car bomb at The Pub...There is nothing wrong with drinking in Epcot, or anywhere in WDW!!!!! As long as your not being bothered, stop worrying about what other people are doing, thats the problem with our country... We worry too much about what the person next door is doing that we don't see our own faults! So next time ur in WS relax and go get an Irish car bomb in Enlgand!!!!!!!!!!

Theres something rather odd about a "British Pub" serving a drink called an Irish car bomb.

What does everyone on the boards feel about the increased level or lack thereof of alcohol intoxicated (drunk) people in all the parks not just EPCOT (although this park maybe more affected because of the various drinking facilities).

Do you really feel that there are more intoxicated adults in the parks now because of the closure of P!? Or do you fell it has had little to no effect?

That's the point of this thread and when I pay just like everyone else I shouldn't be bothered by a drunken fool. The key point here is bothered. I've been buzzed at the WS before and NEVER bothered other people. I do however have a problem with people (drunk or otherwise) causing a disturbance in the parks. ;)

The problem with this Country (I'm assuming you mean the U.S.) reaches far beyond worrying about drunks at Epcot. Most of us don't have the time it would take for such a discussion. :ROFLOL:

this is definitely a big problem especially with the 20-30 year old crowd that comes through. last august i saw a group of men about 24-26 years old smoking marijuana in the area between the boardwalk and the bridge over to epcot, near the wooded areas. the smoke was blowing and no CM seemed to notice or care. I assume they were either already drunk from WS or heading there due to their shirts that said "wasted around the world- WDW 09"

I LOVE to drink my way around the world, but the difference- I've never been one of those rude obnoxious out of control people destroying other people's good time.

People have been drinking their way around the world for quite some time- considered way more fun by many than a night out at PI, so I don't think the PI closure has much to do with it. I just think there are more people out their shirking their responsiblities as parents- i.e. not teaching their kids the proper ways to behave. Then these kids grow up, drink in the WS, and act like a bunch of fools. I see it all the time on trips to sporting events, days at the zoo, and birthday parties...about half the kids act like savages and nobody corrects them....and then they grow up and carry these behaviors into adulthood. Just my theory on this.

I don't think there are any more drunks at Epcot then usual. However I will say the loud crowds of 20 to 30 year olds that you may encounter on occasion are more than likely Cast Members. Just my opinion and I'm not saying that everyone employeed by Disney is a drunk. It's just the few loud crowds that I have encounted at Epcot were indeed employeed by Disney LOL.

And being a "child" doesn't have to mean screaming your head off to a point that it's noticeable to people within 50 feet of you either but they are never escorted out of the park.

A screaming child won't knock your teeth out if you look at them crosseyed.

Go on and have some drinks, so long as you are able to maintain control over yourself and not become a safety hazard to other guests.

I've gotten trashed many times in EPCOT drinking around the world.....I've never bothered anyone.....I keep to myself....well except my wife (which I don't really have a problem with)...she's not fond of me passing out across one of the beds leaving her to sleep in the other bed with the kids.....I sleep great though.....& I've never been In a situation where someone else has been out of control and ruined my experience either....I think the $80 cover charge & $8 beers weed out alot of the riff raff. Pleasure island, I've personally never drank there but did notice the crowd was much younger and louder, but again was never bothered by anyone.....most people were just having fun. When there is alcohol there's always a chance someone is going to get a bit out of hand....but I've never experienced it and think Disney would never let it get to a point where it was disrupting other peoples enjoyment....they would not want that rep.

Right on! Regardless of how hard they try to ruin EPCOT with Nemo and the other pointless character tie-ins, its still an adult oriented park. That is precisely why alcohol is served there and not at MK. If folks don't like their kids being around drunks they should take 'em to another park, PLEASE.

This is another problem, these loud cast groups need to keep their mouth shut about where they work! I dont care if you are off the clock, still extremely bad show. If I was in a non Disney situation and was asked about where I worked, the answer was always 'Publix'.

I did it one time about a year ago, and I'll admit, the group I was with got pretty sloppy. While we were loud, we weren't rude or disruptive. We tried to avoid families with younger kids, while buying rounds for many strangers and making many new friends (facebook has confirmed this). For us, we were in town for one night and since PI was closed we figured this was the next best thing. To someones point, it was very expensive and weeds out a lot of the 'trash'. Disney makes too much money to put an end to this cash cow. It will always be an annoyance for some families, and the highlight of others trip...I guess that's what happens when you have 11 drinks in 4 hours?
