EPCOT: June 20th Update

Hello everyone! I am a newbie here, and I thought I would begin with posting an general EPCOT update.

- Yes, the FG & F is over for yet another year. Which means WOL (and its previous greatness) isn't open again. :fork:

- Noticed the Innoventions BGM did not played around the entire area that morning. It was playing by midday, though.
Probably an audio malfunction??

- Interestingly, there was refurbishing activity on the walkway to The Land pavilion. The retro brown tiles seem to be replaced
with a green scheme similar to the Soarin' concourse theming. I was in a hurry, and they finished half of the walkway. I have
photos, but they are a bit blurry. Here are two of them. The first one's good, the second one is one of those "blurries".

- The Imagination pavilion was eerily quiet - as usual  We pretty much had a whole chain of ride vehicles by
ourselves. Is it true the props in the queue, (the crystal balls, various "junk") came from the first incarnation of the
attraction? And anything else in the current attraction? I believe the Figments at the end are the originals??

- :( My mom had a First Aid issue and was rushed to the Odyssey. So we were there for 3 hours as my mom lie on a bed in a
dimly light "cubicle", as I now refer to it. Curse heat exhaustion!! But I do give a shout out to the paramedic/security tech to
help us to the Odyssey. Pushing my mom on a wheelchair from the Imagination pavilion to the Odyssey in an index heat of
106 degrees was a feat of endurance. (On a related question, anyone know if the RN in First Aid are applied through WDW
Casting or from Memorial Hospital, it being the sponsor?)

- Left First Aid at 2:00pm with my mom feeling much better. We went straight to Club Cool for a refreshing drink. However, we
weren't the only people to think of the idea, obviously. Although a late lunch proved to be priceless, since lunch at the
Electric Umbrella left us with plenty of empty tables. But we left some time later to go back home for apparent reasons.

- Overall, the day was quite unusual. The main Soarin' line was 35 minutes at 9:30am and yet was at the beginning of the
entrance! So were the lines for Mission: Space and Test Track. As we were leaving, Spaceship Earth had a moderately
long line, which discouraged us to ride. Surprising since it usually is not lengthy around the early afternoon.

First off, WELCOME!

Also, good to hear that your mom was feeling better. Its amazing how the heat can just get to you if you don't watch out. :(

And now, those pics of the Innoventions walkway... Huh! Does it extend the entire length of the breezeway, or is it just in front of the character spot? I assume that since they did this on one side they will be doing it to the other side of the walkway. And with that, anyone have any indication that this is continuing in the Eastern breezeway?

I'd have to see it in person but initial impression is that its not bad.

(Where's EE? He's going to freak when he sees this. :lookaroun)

I was in WDW all last week. During the early parts of last week, the Character Spot side of the breezeway was walled off. After they removed these walls and revealed the new green pavement, the Innoventions side was walled off up to the door that leads into Innoventions. I assume that after they finish this quadrant of the breezeway, they'll have to seal off that door to Innoventions West while they repave the breezeway.

Ah okay. So then after they do that, I assume they head over to the East breezeway?

Well, the photo does not show the entire walkway, but that half does extend the entire length. To the right of those pic are refurb walls, most likely working on the next side. As for the Western walkway, I am unsure of that.

It's a lot better than the old brown tiles, those used to get pretty slick when it rained. I've about busted my butt more than once on them.

Thanks for the update and welcome to Magic!

That's true. When I once wore those Crocs to EPCOT once, I nearly slipped while walking through the tiles.

And thanks for the welcoming, hpyhnt and krank!

Agreed! Always wondered how many people slipped on them when they were wet. Hopefully they put like a textured kind of concrete in there to make it more slip resistant.

:lol: Good thing I re read the thread...GREEN!! This is more interesting than I thought.

Does the green match the color of the "new" Innoventions signs?:lookaroun

I wonder if that Blue and Green look is coming soon...:D

Good news about your Mom (that`s mum, btw!) and the continuing work on Futureworlds appearence.

A lot of the props in the queue for Imag are bits from the original ride sadly. Indeed, the racks of computers in the computer room track right during the ride are old control systems from V1. One is still labled turntable show or similar, but is too far away to read.

Just out of curiosity, is this where the money from the SSE finale band-aid job was diverted? It is nice to see Future World getting some improvements.
