Hmm..a quick search found this in the arizona lawbooks...

Question: If someone threatens to kill me can he/she go to jail?

Answer: Arizona Law (ARS 13-1202) states that threatening or intimidating to cause physical injury to another person is a class one (1) misdemeanor. A class one misdemeanor is punishable by up to six (6) months in jail and a $2500 fine.

They will not arrest anyone for just saying I'm going to kill you, you can file a restraining order, but you will not get arrested. I'm sorry you think that you can.

Please be sure to read the very last paragraph, Mr. Police Officer Wannabe:

Under Connecticut law, a person is guilty of threatening when:

1. by physical threat, he intentionally places or attempts to place another person in fear of imminent, serious physical injury;

2. he threatens to commit any crime of violence with the intent to terrorize another, to cause evacuation of a building, place of assembly, or facility of public transportation, or otherwise to cause serious public inconvenience; or

3. he threatens to commit such crime in reckless disregard of the risk of causing terror or inconvenience.

Threatening is a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison (CGS § 53a-62).

Erika: You can say whatever you want, even if I held up a piece of posterboard with a picture of me shooting somebody named "Erika", nothing would happen. You could call the police, they would tell you that If I threatened you again, file a restraining order, they would not find me and arrest me. This is the last I have to say on freedom of speech/getting arrested for threatening someone. It's pointless to discuss it further.

I refer you to my direct quote from the lawbooks.....

I can look up federal laws if you'd like.

I thnk a major issue here is accountability. Eminem is free to say just about anything he wants, and it's "artistic license" - and as long as it sells, he and his record company are happy as clams. Nowhere is he accountable for the damage that he does to kids who are confused and vulnerable. It's not OK to talk about women the way he does, not OK to condone violence toward anyone who simply happens to get in your way, and it's not OK to glorify violence as a means of revenge for past wrongs, either! I teach nine and ten-year-olds, and let me tell you, they know every word of everything Eminem has ever recorded. Scary.

If you ever threatened Erika she would not need to call the police cuz I would kick the $hit out of ya!

Never did I say it wasn't against the law, I said you will not get arrested.

Oh, and what are you going to report me for? Because I am using freedom of speech and talking about Eminem's lyrics and the laws? Mmm k.

Well, yeah..it's hard for him to argue when I present facts i copied straight from the arizona website.

I actually stand corrected...I thought TOT was an old person who got banned that was allowed back with the promise to stay good. While I will still investigate this possiblity, I don't think it's the same person.

However, my approach remains the same.....I KNOW the law..and just quoted it. How can you debate that?

ok ok something in this thread is annoying the crap out of me....

You cannot say anything you want to anyone....I am in a law class RIGHT NOW and just learned that if you threaten anyone even jokingly you can be arrested. It is classified as an assault

Wow..seems like you just contradicted yourself there...first you say nothing would happen...not even getting arrested.

Now I may be wrong, but don't you get arrested when you go to jail?

Umm, that does not show I contradicted myself, quite the contrary, I said the same thing in both posts. Like I said, nothing would happen, the police would not arrest someone for that, especially not if they only did it once..
