Electrical Parade listed on Disneyland Website for Holiday Season

The Electrical Parade is listed on Disneyland's website as a Holiday Season offering, so if you want to see the parade, do it in the couple of months it will be here!

I myself don't understand why they would spend the money on shipping a parade and only keep it for this short amount of time, but I guess Disney knows what they're doing.

As someone that knows first hand that they mess up on the Disney web site often I would say that is WRONG! The Santa Beach Party Bash ended year before last and wont be back this year because of work on the main entrance of DCA. Also the main reason MSEP got shipped off this summer is because of WoC and the expectation of crowds and demand for it. I would say that, even with the updated dates, that is wrong info. But we will have to wait and see!

I think it is also important to point out that they list Santa's beach blast is returning which is suprising considering it didn't happen last year. As always, the web sites arn't the most reliable source of information and entertainment is subject to change.

I really, really hope that it's wrong, and that I'll finally be able to see the MSEP when I go later in the year. :(

In Disneyland, they had the "Glows Away Forever" event several years ago, and if it's showing up in DCA it's gonna be a pretty strange parade route. I don't by it.

It seems odd that DL would start their holiday events on Nov 16th, which is a Tuesday. Last year it started on Nov 13th which was a Friday. Tuesday just seems like too random a day to begin your crowd drawing festivities.

Website now says:

'Tis the season for loved ones to gather and celebrate a tradition of wintry wonderment during Holidays at the Disneyland® Resort! Awe-inspiring decor and atmosphere, appearances from special visitors like Santa Claus and yummy holiday treats are only part of the festivities!

You and your family will also:

  • Take a whirlwind tour of the world's holiday traditions as children celebrate with song on "it's a small world" holiday.
  • Gaze on majestic Sleeping Beauty Castle with snow capped turrets, sparkling icicles and shimmering Holiday lights.
  • Experience "A Christmas Fantasy" Parade, a charming procession of Yuletide vignettes starring beloved Disney Characters.
  • Be dazzled by the breathtaking "Believe… In Holiday Magic" Fireworks Spectacular that builds to a crescendo of falling snow.
  • Meet real reindeer and participate in countrified holiday fun at Santa's Reindeer Roundup in Frontierland.
  • Witness the snow-covered Haunted Mansion Holiday, featuring Sandy Claws' coffin sleigh atop the roof — and see what Jack Skellington and pals from "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas" have done inside!
Check back in fall 2010 for details!

Dates: Winter 2010

No mention of the MSEP, and no dates given. Whatever you saw must have been a temporary holder page that has either been changed or you got to through an old link that they don't know about.

so does anyone know if the MSEP will be on longer than 8/14?? We arrive the 15th and I would give anything to be able to see it.

I would expect about mid summer to see this on the Disney Park blog!

Magic Kingdom News

By popular demand the Main Street Electrical Parade has been extended!!! At this time it is set to run through the end of 2010!

Then as it gets closer to the end of the year that it will be extending through 2011! They wont say it is going to stay longer because they want everyone to rush there this summer to see it again! Then they will want people to do it for the Holiday Season. Then they will just say for the next year...it is all about the money!

I hope you're right. As of now, we're going to miss it by 11 days:mad:

I wouldn't expect to see it anytime beyond this summer. I mean it could happen, but Walt Disney World and Disneyland operate as independent companies within Disney. If an agreement was made to move the parade for a specific period of time it may be hard to change. Now if something comes along at Disneyland that they replace it with while it's gone, it might stay, but that parade has always been owned by Disneyland. To this point it's only appearance in WDW was the limited engagement during the Millenium Celebration. I just wouldn't expect it beyond the 14 of August, if it's there, that's awesome, I just wouldn't plan for it.

All this does make me wonder something, WDW's parade, which I had always thought went to Tokyo, actually went to Paris and stopped running there in 2003, anyone know where it's gone?

Supposedly it's sitting in Hong Kong Disneyland, but hasn't been used yet. However, I don't think there is proof of that.

You of course assume that the original agreement was through August and not longer. If the parade is in fact staying, you can expect that this was the plan from the start

isn't the web department run out of Seattle Washington, far from the parks so they dont know they are wrong till they are told

It wouldn't surprise me. Whoever writes their websites does a VERY poor job, regardless.

I'm a web developer by hobby/side gig. I test all my sites in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome (and have others test them in Mac and Unix browsers). Everything I write is XHTML and cross-platform compliant.

However, Disney's sites often fail in at least one of the three main browsers, all the time. I get a kick out of looking at their web code, because I'll often see comments left in the code by the developers saying things like, "We'll get to this in the next phase" or "Buggy in Firefox".

Also, I think they win the trophy for the most javascript and flash used on a single web page. It's no wonder their pages take so long to load - they're pulling scripts, images and content from about 30 different servers all at once.

So, it doesn't surprise me that their actual content is wrong - since the pages themselves are deplorable, at best.
