Supposedly it's sitting in Hong Kong Disneyland, but hasn't been used yet. However, I don't think there is proof of that.

That is in fact the last resting place of that MSEP, this is the version that has been shipped from coast to coast now how many times?????

Oh and the deal is for 2 years.....just saying:zipit:

It wouldn't surprise me. Whoever writes their websites does a VERY poor job, regardless.

I'm a web developer by hobby/side gig. I test all my sites in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome (and have others test them in Mac and Unix browsers). Everything I write is XHTML and cross-platform compliant.

However, Disney's sites often fail in at least one of the three main browsers, all the time. I get a kick out of looking at their web code, because I'll often see comments left in the code by the developers saying things like, "We'll get to this in the next phase" or "Buggy in Firefox".

Also, I think they win the trophy for the most javascript and flash used on a single web page. It's no wonder their pages take so long to load - they're pulling scripts, images and content from about 30 different servers all at once.

So, it doesn't surprise me that their actual content is wrong - since the pages themselves are deplorable, at best.

Three college professors have told me they use the WDW site as an example of how not to integrate scripts.

I would love to see this again when we go in 2011, but doesn't look like that is going to happen. Oh well! Got to see the original MSEP back in the 90's with the full IASW portion.

Totally off-topic, but that tactic of loading items from different servers is very effective. Your browser can only download between 2 and 4 items simultaneously from one host name. By using different hostnames for items, you can trick the browser into pulling down many more items at the same time. Doing this does show that they are trying to optimise load times. But of course, as you say, if those items are huge, it's always going to be slow.

Steve - I completely agree. Furthermore, the problem with Disney's site is that, often times, the components they're pulling are coming from other overworked servers.

Most of the time, when I load their pages, there are many graphics that load last - some of which hold up other portions of the site until they're fully loaded because they're being pulled in by JS scripts running in a Finish->Start fashion.

I think it was on one of their booking pages, but somewhere I counted around 30 externally referenced javascripts. If bandwidth and servers aren't the problem, your poor little browser is :animwink:

The Electrical Parade is listed on Disneyland's website as a Holiday Season offering, so if you want to see the parade, do it in the couple of months it will be here!

No mention of the MSEP, and no dates given. Whatever you saw must have been a temporary holder page that has either been changed or you got to through an old link that they don't know about.

Curiouser and curiouser. The link goes dead less than a day after this thread pops up. Conspiracy theories, anyone? :drevil:

Personally, I'd like to see the MSEP back at DL soon, since that's likely to be the spot of my next trip.

If this is true, I'm dissapointed. Couple this with the fact that Captain EO is only back for a short while. Being a Disney fan from MA, and somebody who likes to go for 10 days or more per visit, I don't go to Disney World every year. So when they bring something back to/to DisneyWorld for less than 2 or 3 years, people like me don't get to enjoy the attraction...but I guess that's why they do it...to get people to visit more.

Still OT:

Yes, but the Walt Disney World site is very buggy.
