Electrical Fire At Epcot

Does the inferno barge have wheels by any chance? :lookaroun

And its not THAT bad (yet). The thing is if they keep going without giving it attention, it soon will be back in that state. They generally mini-refurb it just before the holidays to get in shape again so hopefully that will fix some things.

Perhaps my expectations of the refurb were too great though? But really, when the thing is walled off and down for about two months, is it too much to expect that all the nozzles be working properly? I mean why is it that 3 months after a two month refurb there are multiple shooters that are crooked or barely work (yes, already, sad isn't it?), a side arch nozzle that is crooked, fans don't go off like they're supposed to for shows, one or two supershooters only go about half as high as they should, and to top it all of, the center fountain that should be able to shoot water 150 feet high isn't even operational. :dazzle: :brick:

Tell me, did I expect too much? I mean, when the thing reopend, I wasn't expecting lasers and fire and new rotating nozzles or anything. All I wanted was some new/updated hardware to bring the fountain back to a state where everything worked like it was supposed to. You think park ops and upper management would want that, too, but I guess not. :(

They did alot for the fountain. I have seen alot of fountain shows and built one myself. The belagio fountain had broken nozzles from day one and the new dubia fountain is missing fountains already. If you notice all the latest fountains dont even have the same fountain style as epcot no still nozzles like the middle one and the ones that go off to the side that tells you that those fountains were not meant for a funtain show. Fountains are so complicated I know I built one. If you notice the fountain has something broken but everytime its something elts. I noticed when they had to take it apart on 2002 it was messed up after they put it back together but after this refurb I noticed things getting better. They have had the same shows since 94. Our computers from then are not working or have no use and these shows are the same since 94 and have all the same movements so it is not the fountain I think it is the computers. Some fountains are on when there not supost to be on. Some are crooked but thats been going on forever. The fountain looks even worse now because the video cameras pick up all the flaws where the old ones didnt. Also it does have good days and bad days which means convinces me that they need a new computer system. Not saying your wrong I am just trying to make you feel better LOL. They should just gutt it but the last time they did that was around the time i go there so i am going to say it looks good to me.

Ah...Interesting. So the fire DID damage the fountain? Shame. :( Think it will be hard to fix?

If you noticed the fountain went off as well as the fountain view club cool and the neon. I bet the pump burnt out and smelled bad more than anything. They probaly have a spare one ready to go. They probaly have to disconect the pump from 2 pipes the return and the one that releases water then put the new one on. mabu that will solve those low water preshure ptoblum that some fountains have. it was probaly ready to blow for a long time and it probaly made more smoke than anything.

I just got back to my hotel room after leaving Epcot and decided to post about this. Around 8:30pm tonight they had an electrical fire occur next to the Fountain of Nations. They shut off power to it and some of the buildings near it including the Pin Trading Station. The fire department was called and responded with two fire trucks. You could see the smoke and smell it. This occurred on the west side of the fountain. I will post a link to the video once I get it uploaded to Youtube.

So mutch for that new fire safety egzibit in innoventions

I understand what you're saying, and my expectations for the fountain may be a bit out of reach, as there are a couple hundred nozzles in there, so th have all of them all working at some point would be an amazing accomplishment. Interesting point about the computer system, I never actually thought that might be a problem, but it does make sense. But a good gutting to bring the thing back to as close to perfection as possible would be lovely. I understand that some aspects are probably going to be broken or not functioning 100% no matter how much work one puts into it; its just how many parts of the fountain are doing that, and right now, its a bit too many in my opinion, especially coming off a refurb.

And personally, the fountain right now is nowhere near the condition it was in 1998. Im only going by videos I've seen mind you, so I'll admit its not the best comparison, but from what I've seen, there is still a lot of work to be done.

The fountain was already scheduled for a rehab, it had nothing to do with the fire.

But I did hear the real cause of the fire(mainly smoke), it was by Club Cool, there is a little break area that CM's use near the stairwell and behind the bushes, apparently there was a lot of trash in the area and someone threw a lit cigarette nearby and caught it on fire and it just happen to be the near the fresh air intake for the air handlers in SW Innoventions. So the smoke got distributed throughout the building and it looked like a bigger fire but really just a lot of smoke.

Now that you mention Computers of all things...I wonder if that's the root off all these synchronization problems, not only in the FON, but in ROE, too. As far as we know, both could be running off of computers at least a decade old (ROE, especially- I know that it was built on Windows 95.) I wonder if simply upgrading software would fix this.

This is great and... puzzling to hear. :veryconfu They scheduled two refurbs on the fountain within 4 months of each other? I'm not complaing mind you! The fountain needs all the help it can get, so I hope there is another refurb coming, but its just odd coming off a lengthy one.

Any idea what they are doing with the fountain refurb? It's only just had a major refurb.

I would like to say they are finishing the refurb but it looks like they stoped in during the fire it looked like the water was going lightly like it had a little moomentum so it could of been a pump or a part under the stage but if it was a cigerete there might be a pump roblum and still water could attratct muscqitos and in that case in a place like that they cant leave the fountain like that. Iknow it is turned off sometimes in the summer I dont know why. At least I it looked like there was a little water and it did look wet mabt was it raining earlier that day. If thats lot the case I hope to see some huge improvement next time I go there.

Yeah its off. They started it up again during the begining the gardent festival. It still didnt look 100% but the garden festival is one of their biggest events as I heard. Dont get to exited they might just be cleaning out the pennies that people throw in Someone please look for piles of pennys on the steps which means thats the case. I am assuming that they ran out if time and that they are finishing unfinished work. I know when I was there in febuary it was quiet all night but each time i went there i looked in the cracks to find something diferent but then when I looked at a monorail picture from the prime time they were working on it during the day which tells me that they were running out of time. I would of wrote this earlier but that was a fiew months ago but I had to clear my mind and backtrak. I even noticed that they redid the lights and even took it all apart but put all of the old stuff back on that they removed whick tells me that they might if been waiting for the new hardware but ran out of time. Thats all I got I hope it was usefull to you and everyone elts .I hope I am right at least wishfull thinking.

I hope you're right that they are just finishing what they started or that they finally got the new hardware in and are now putting it in place. The new lights are great -a HUGE improvement. :sohappy: Now hopefully the jets and nozzles get some attention (because they need it).

I just hope they dont add disney challum pop star music to the fountain. They need to add more music. Its the same 8 somgs since 94 I like them but you are garanteed to see some shows repetivly. That dosnt mean I want the disney challel pop star music I hope I didnt start a problum. They need something like the pirates of the caribean music, Some reflections of muisc would fit since its getting old and will probaly be changed soon. They need a new system thats al old fountain I bet they could find something just as good but more eastier to run. I noticed new piping in a picture they removed those 6 fountains where 3 on each side ren off the sides then they were back and all 3 were working. For a while only 2 were working. Theres no reason that should be broken They should have a fountain tech that fixes those little things I dont know but those look like little easy things especially after hoe was they took it apart and put it back together. I am suprised the fountain is still there i saw the fountain going down hill For a while each year I was afraid to go to epcot and see no fountain or at least fountain shows.
