Electrical Fire At Epcot

Tunnel!? Wow. That's interesting. How big was it?

I didn't see any damage today, and the building was open. The only weird thing was that the Fountain of Nations was completely dry.

Perhaps it was electrical equipment for the fountain?

Actually, I wouldn't have minded if, had it been for the FoN, that it did a bit of significant damage. Maybe then Disney would finally go in and invest money to overhaul the thing like they should have about 5 years ago now.

Then again, knowing Disney, they'd probably just leave it dry or maybe put the pin station on top of it or something.

That's what I was thinking.:lol: Anyway, hope they reactivate it soon! I wonder what's up.

Just got in from the park, but the news was already said. All buildings in that area were operating normally today. Fountain of Nations was dry.

yep it was def dry today, and it was working yesterday, so think it is def linked. I could also still slighty pick up the smell of smoke this morning as we passed to fountain, but it seemed to have disappered by the time we left the park at 7pm.

The electrical fire was actually in the old Pizza Piaza kitchen area which sits directly on the other side of the wall behind the counter in Club Cool. The area isn't being used for anything and is pretty much gutted save for a few sinks and pipes scattered about. Most of the damage was due to smoke but it was all cleaned up by morning. The carpets were still a tiny bit damp out in the hall area when the park opened.

So I would preume the fire engines came out of the station there, entered the backstage area behind Italy, travelled behind American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, and France... then "underneath" the waterway between International Gateway and Boardwalk, then continued behind Canada, UK, Millenium Village, The Land, and The Seas, then entered on-stage at the area I pointed out earlier.

[/Disney CSI]

Yep, that's the route. It would've be faster through the gate next to Imagination but often trucks scrape the underside of the monorail track when they go over the bridge in that area (you will notice the marks if you look for them) and have to let some air out of their tires in order to get out from under it. So the route you mentioned is the best way.

Oh, I most defintitely will now! Is it the bridge by Imagination or the bridge in front of The Land?

Great. Now I have ANOTHER incredibly geeky thing to point out to unwitting victims

That really can't be good for the Mono Track.:dazzle:

I thought there was a hallway (and its very-infrequently-used bathrooms) between Club Cool and the former Piaza kitchen... The Character Spot essentially wraps around the old kitchen.

The bridge on the way to Imagination

The kitchen is on the other side of the hallway oposite the rest rooms. So in behind Club Cool and the Epcot 25th gallery area. Behind Character Spot is the character breakroom and preperation area and stairwell to the tunnel.

So you would not mind a fire if it caused enough damage to force Disney to remove the Millenium Canopies and overhaul the Innoventions buildings?:lookaroun

So when did that change? I always knew the kitchen to be between the toilets and Character spot, with the gallery space taking up all the space between Club Cool and the toilet corridor? The electrical room in question I thought was below the toilet corridor and the gallery.

Dave,
Yeah it's the same here in Allegheny County (Pittsburgh is the seat) with the home rule and such. 130 individual, independant municipalities with...oh...about 300 individually chartered, independant fire departments. Most are volunteer, some are paid, and some use a combination. Glad to hear that we are not alone!

I was wondering that myself.

Around here the response is not quite to the levels you guys have, but we are mainly residential. Most departments only have one ladder (and some have a second for backup, but its not normaly in service). But then we have the County mutual aid system here, so townships back each other up. NJ has a history of "home rule" we dont do things on an efficent county or state level, each town, for the most part, has its own fire, police, ambulance, buildings, courts, etc. Every so often they throw out the fact that our county has more fire appratus spread among all the town departments than exists in the entire NYC fire department.

Anyway, yeah, I though that was a kind of light response for somthing like a major them park, unless like you said they were staging offsite.
