El Rio Del Tiempo - Anyone else's favorite ride?

It's okay and has potential, but certainly needs some updating. Didn't I read that a refurb was coming? Hopefully it will not be as hokey in some spots like the videos. Anyway, I think I remember something about the addition of the 3 Cabaleros.

I always ride it whenever I'm in the World Showcase. While it'd be nice for some newer video, it is kinda funny to watch the cheesy special effects in the old ones; the rainbows and the swirly color galaxies and stuff. Very distinctly 1980s.

Mmmm...I can smell the Disney water from here...

I can't say it is my favorite thing to see in all of World Showcase, but it is certainly one I don't skip. I appreciate it's 1982 EPCOT Center roots, and although some parts are outdated, the ride for the most part is a fun and edutainment trip. Both the ride and the Mexico Pavilion have stunning qualities to them...and as said for someone who never went on but has seen video of "If You Had Wings" it's as close as I can get! :)

Not my favorite, but I absolutely love ♪LA LA LA LA LA....LA LA LA LA LA LA!♪:D

The skyline in there is simply beautiful, and I just like the ride itself. It's fun to ride especially if you get front row and can put your feet up.

The best part though is the very ending right before you're getting off the ride where that guy is saying things in Spanish and then the English translation...listen to him because he gets SERIOUSLY violent when he's speaking Spanish and then is all friendly when English...I'm like what the hell?

"encontraremos otra vez! -- We will MEET again!"

I like the little pool bar gratto scene. Have allways wondered where that was and wanted to go there.

Well I hope you're happy. Now that you've brought up that ride, the song is going through my head non stop! (Actually, it's one of my favorite rides, too)

This ride is just a fun, unassuming, and innocent little ride that always makes me smile. Sure, it's not the most exciting or technologically advanced, but who cares. All that matters is that the ride is simply delightful. Plus, it's one of the only things that has never been changed since 1982, so it's fun to see. Plus, it's nice to see the cliff divers of Acapulco instead of the drunken orgies of Cancun that would probably be in the ride today. Plus I love the video of the people trying to sell you stuff, just hilarious.

Viva Mexico Ride!

We LOVE this ride! Catchy music and great scenery...reminds me of the River Walk in San Antonio. I hope they never change this ride!:p

My sister has no "favourite" ride... save for this. She always manages to drag us onto the boats (and, hey, it's pretty fun, too). ;)

This is my FAVORITE ride at WDW! It's honestly the only thing that peaks my interest enough to go back to WDW, since M:S and Everest just don't hold enough attraction for me. And most of the rest of the rides at WDW are copied in California or Tokyo.

I love the song, and those circa 1981 videos are fantastic! It just cracks me up! El Rio Del Tiempo is one of those rides that is simply so bad, it's good. The kitsch factor is through the roof, and it luckily escaped that horrible 1990's trend too many other Epcot shows went through of ditching the original theme songs and overlaying a "hip n' edgy" cynicism to the original ride.

El Rio Del Tiempo is the best WDW-specific ride in Florida! It's never been duplicated, and right now it's about the only thing that could get me to go back to WDW since I'm busy planning for my next trip to Tokyo Disneyland in '07 instead.

IASW meets If You Had Wings.... great :D

I agree! Good memories is why I ride it. I can't imagine Epcot without it. I think it is also a hidden gem and a good way pass the time if you are waiting to get in to San Angel's. I can't wait to ride it in 17 more days!!!

The River of Time rocks!

The entire atmosphere of the Mexican Pavillon is just perfectly WDW. Some of my fondest memories are tied to that area, and it continues to be one of our most anticipated destinations on each trip.

Hands down, El Rio d'el Tiempe is the best ride that doubles as a shopping experience/travel video... I love it!

I absolutely LOVE this ride! The song (la, la, la, la, la, la) is infectious. I love the smells too (even if it is mold!) and the part at the end where the shopkeepers are asking you to buy something...because we all know - that really is what it's like visiting Mexico! The 80's video clips are great too!

We had a nice cinco de mayo dinner there and then rode it. The kids in our boat, pointed and shouted "It's Dora!" and you know what....the dolls did look like Dora! Too funny!

I hope it never changes.

That ride is really good after a couple of Dos Equis and Nacho's. The skyline, the music, although that grotto video is a little cheesy, although made in the 80's look circa 70's.
