El Rio Del Tiempo - Anyone else's favorite ride?

I love the ride, and is a must do at least 3 times (with a margarita in hand), but wasn't there a post a while back that said they were going to redo it. By that I heard some people said it wasn't politically correct. I hear it was going to changed to a tour of Mexico with the 3 canarons(spelling) as your host. They were a trio of Donald duck, and parrot, and some other bird. They had some cartoons, and were featured in the Mickey mouse revue at fantasy land. Well, I hope they leave it the way it is. It's perfect.

Yup, you're thinking of the Three Caballeros: Donald Duck, Jose Carioca (the parrot), and Panchito (the "other bird", a Mexican Charro Rooster). They debuted in 1944.

I really do enjoy this ride alot. I always have and as long as it is there, I will ride it. My kids love it, too, and they tend to want to ride it every time they go to Epcot.

"encontraremos otra vez! -- We will MEET again!"

Funny thing from last Friday when I went to Epcot. We rode El Rio, and at the end when he was talking the recording got cut off, so it sounded like this:

"Encontraremos otra vez! -- We will meet again! Until then --"

"Please keep your hands and arms inside the boat until it comes to a complete stop."

Its a great ride to just relax on. After walking around one of the biggest parks in the World, not much better than having a couple of fine mexico-influenced adult beverages, and putting your feet up for a couple of rounds on El Rio.
Nice way to beat the heat
and better to save your feet!

Just wondering if there is anyone else out there who loves this ride as much as I do. This is the one thing I could not possibly live without. The smell of the Disney Water (all the water rides have that certain smell, wish I knew what it was!!!), AND the smell of the delicious Mexican food are amazing!! The temple, the sky, the plants, the skeletons, the fireworks.....I could never get tired of it!!!! I hope they never change it!!!! I know many people don't like it, but can we please keep this thread positive about it? Thanks!!

My brother and I love the ride. Heck, we even do the "El Rio" Dance.....which you pretend you're a marianette. Just pose yourself in a crane kick position like in the karate kid, (stand on one foot with your other leg picked up....hands up in teh air out to the sides. Then sing the song and move your arms and your raised leg up and down in unison while singing the song:). This pretty much replicates the merry-go-round of mexican marienettes in the "fireworks" room. Sure people will think you're nuts....but it's so much fun:) Oh and if you can do that all while spinning in a circle...bonus points for you!:D

We ride it every trip. I like the song "Hola mis amigos..." haven't quite deciphered the rest ha! I agree about the smells. The smell of Disney in general to me is very comforting. Guess I'm not a weirdo after all! lol

Speaking of the water and smells at Disney, the best smell IMO hits you when you enter the Great Ceremonial House at the Poly. It really is unforgettable... the scent of the flowers, the waterfall and something else that can only be described as Disney magic overwhelms you. Second best is the AKL lobby.

"An Adventurers life is best!"

el Rio is a good example of a ride that could use just alittle touch up like updating the videos just a little bit so they don't look like 1980. But otherwise its a hiddne treasure of EPCOT one of my favs. Now we need a German boat ride they could use beer instead of water, DuffWorld galore., lol!!!!!!!!:p :slurp: :hurl:

Not bad mouthing you here, but the 1980's videos and look make this ride. LOL This is by far my favorite guilty pleasure. No matter what I have to go on this attraction. When I lived in Florida and worked in T-Land at MK, I would sometimes go to EPCOT just to go on it. LOL. My g/f and I love the ride, we would hum the song all day long.

One night we had dinner at the restaurant, our table was right on the water, very beautiful and romantic. And what's more romantic than a trip on El Rio?
Definetly one of my favorite in Disney!!!

My brother and I recently rode it 3x in a single visit, without trying to go on it a lot.

We hit it when we were in the TT area, then on a WS loop, then while walking to find a spot for Illuminations.

The ride is cheesy, but it's great. The first segment with the temple and lagoon is the best part of the ride, IMO. It's extremely atmospheric.

Another highlight is the tourism section, with the beach/underwater videos, cliffs, beaches, and waterfalls.

youve got to be kidding. el rio del tiempo, or its a small mexcio, has got to be the single more inane, boring ride ever created. at least if it was longer you could take a nap in the a/c.

to each his own, i guess

I tell everyone that too! I love it! I almost pass out from all the heavy inhailing I do there. :-)

El Rio Del Tiempo is a favorite of mine to and I have to have dinner there every time. LOVE The combo platter and the soup.

Count me in as a big fan of El Rio del Small World Had Wings. I will admit that the video portions and maybe the ending scene could use an update, but it is classic by every definition. It is the last original ride left, so it holds a very special place for me and aparently a lot of others.

And, yes, THAT DARN SONG WILL BE IN MY HEAD ALL NIGHT!   (But, IASW, I love it anyway!)

I've been to Disney 4 times and have never been on this ride. My fiance says we have to go on it the next time we are there because neither one of us has been on it, (at least that we can remember!) See this thread helps out because I heard it was lame and really boring. . . but we usually like the unhyped rides or experiances at disney.

It certainly has a certain 'Je Ne Sais Quois'. Me and the girlfriend like but it does need a little work.

Loved the way the Mexican pavilion was in the dark at night and then you go outside in the daylight again, a great feeling, almost like "Yay i have ages left in EPCOT to do!"
