EE Update Feature

To be honest, the Disney experience in California, while still magical, was disappointing after having been to WDW [it didn't help that a lot of DL was in rehab while we were there - SM, the Transit Authority and a few others were closed].
If you were meaning the peoplemover it has been closed for a while...:lookaroun

After opening...is that the lighting they are going to keep? Or is that just work lighting?
It's gotta be work lights.

Walt Disney World is BEAUTIFUL at night.
Now, don't get me wrong, the lighting looks okay on EE. But nothing jaw dropping. So that's why I say; it's gotta be work lights.

I sure hope so.

See prior posts -- they have a dramatic back lighting scheme which currently isn't on. It's been on in the past.

I wouldn't call the exterior lighting they presently have on as work lights. And to be honest I'm not sure if the back lighting they had on before (which was really, really bright) weren't work lights either.

The ride is apparently to have an affect off the top of the mountain that makes it look windblown (i.e. with a snow effect that blows off the top crest). Perhaps the dramatic backlighting is to highlight that effect?

So, in short, I don't know the answer -- there is more lighting, available, but it could have been temporary.

Light isn't just the source, but how it's processed/filtered.

We didn't see the final look of M:S for a while because they decided to use an old Horizons light in the courtyard for the main red sphere. That was gelled (past tense of "to gel" meaning to put color thing in front of, no idea if its spelled right) only right before they opened.

Typically, lights will be installed but not focused and gelled until after all of the major elements are in place. Can't have the lights trying to shoot a beam through trees or bushes or a color wash bleeding into the wrong area.

That's some good info. A month or so back when the backlighting was on -- I thought it was just way over the top and a lot of spilling. Maybe they adjusted it.

Cool,
Again, thanks for your perspective.

Along those lines, there's been some changes at "small world" since it reopened. Particularly dealing with those large holes in the ceiling that Grizz complained about so bitterly. I've got pics but they need photoshopping due to low light (and i didnt use flash in the ride!) but either later tonight or tomorrow i'll be going through and posting that, so you mgiht wanna check it out.

most people don't.......esp since they are in areas that you have no reason to look at...

Why it was such a big deal for some people, I really have no idea.

Looks nice. One request. Is it possible you could get a picture of the back "building" in the back of Everest that everyone's been complaining about. I've not seen a picture of it, and I haven't noticed it amongst what's here. Someone point out is I missed it.

Also, I don't think I see what everyone is talking about in this picture.

However, in the picture I do see what appears to be the cartoonish face of a cat. Some of this drawing may be a stretch, but the eyes, and nose are clearly visible, as well as what appears to be the jaw and side of the face. The ears are really stretching, but here's the whole thing.

I'm not saying this is intentional, and I definitely don't know why it would be intentional, but I do see it.

You've seen pictures of the back building. It is very visible from the parking lot, especially as they route you around the perimeter. However, you can't see it from the park. My guess is that they'll paint the building or install less permanent rock formations to hide the building. I know the scale models featured a finished mountain.

About the "I can see it from parking..." argument...

You can see the backside of Energy and Seas from Epcot's parking lot. You can see the rear of Mainstreet USA's Emporium area from the monorail station. You can see the rear of the Indy show from MGM's lot.

It's a non-issue really.

It is an issue to those with unrealistic expectations.....or those who are ignorant.
