I know people go every year in August but it is extremely hot, we went three years ago and decided that would be the last time we visited in August. Granted I know there are some that are used to that climate and it is fine for them.

My vote would be before Christmas, just to enjoy the beauty of the lights, or even Easter the weather is beautiful.

Of course, some will say no time is a bad time at Disney LOL.

Depends on what is more important to you....lower crowds, or nicer temperatures. Easter and Christmas are the two busiest times of year. August would be a little less crowded, but you would have the insane heat to deal with. I hate the heat even more than I hate crowds, so out of your three choices I would choose Christmas.

If you could go the first two weeks of Dec. then I would definitely recommend that. Otherwise I would go at Easter rather than Christmas week, because I believe it is less crowded. I've never been in August, so I can't provide any advice about that.

For a 2-week trip, I'd definitely go in late August. Sure, it's hot, but if you're going to be there that long, you can always spend a day or two driving over to the ocean, or even to the Gulf Coast. The later you travel in August, the less crowded it will be, since the Florida kids go back to school fairly early that month. Christmas is a beautiful time at Disney, but the weather isn't as reliable for side trips.

That said, there's really no such thing as a BAD time to visit WDW! :) Have a great time!

I would go the first two weeks of December, if that's available for you. Crowds are low, the weather is probably the best you'll get out of those three options and you get to see the parks decorated for the holidays. I've been all times of the year and definitely prefer December. Easter week itself is extremely crowded, but the week before/after wouldn't be too bad. August is just a miserable month to be in Florida. The weather is awful, people tend to get cranky and rude from the heat, and you usually get a thunderstorm every afternoon. It's also pretty crowded in August so I'd prefer crowds+better weather any day so Easter or Christmas for sure over August for me!

August is very hot, but a lot less crowded. The last two weeks in Aug many schools have started already helping to lower the crowd. We enjoy going even though it is hot. Just take a break in the afternoon, swim, etc.

Depends on your preferences. Spring is nice, just try to avoid the week before Easter -- very crowded, but week after is nice last time I was there. Everything was operating at peak hours but not so crowded. Christmas (meaning early December is nice), you get to enjoy WDW all decked out for the holidays and crowds are nice too. August is very hot, but if you are like us, it is our favorite time to go (mid-August to mid-September). You can enjoy pools, water parks, etc. Also, in August, there is good chance you could take advantage of the Free DIning offer (assuming Disney offers it again this year) -- of course, we won't know if they will offer the free dining for another few months. Either way, just decide and go with it.

The crowds will be the worst for Christmas, next worst for Easter (spring break for many people), and tapering off from the summer highs in August.

The weather will be most pleasant for Easter, followed by Christmas, then August.

We've gone in August several times with our sons - the first time when they were 2, 4, and 6. I would recommend August to you for your two-week stay for a couple of reasons:
1. Both waterparks will be open, and your sons will love them.
2. In August, you do not have to pack anything with long sleeves or long pants.
3. The mid-day heat and mid-day storms provide a great reason to go back to your hotel for a break. The kids will need a break during the day, anyway.

I'm sure you'll have fun whenever you go!

I'm assuming by "easter" and "xmas," you mean that your vacation WILL definitely include the holidays, and not just dates close to Easter and Xmas, sorry if I'm wrong.

If you were planning a shorter trip, I'd probably suggest August. Yes, it's hotter than Satan's armpit, but the crowds are usually SO light, it's easy to go in the morning to a park, enjoy the lighter crowds, head back to the hotel when it starts getting hot, and lounge pool side. The parks tend to be open later this time of year, which gives you the option of going back to parks after the hottest part of the afternoon.

But with two whole weeks at a minimum, Christmas seems like a good time. Actual Christmas week will be problematic, but if, for example, you went the last 2 weeks of the year, you can spend the first week hitting the parks hard, getting as much of it out of your system as possible, then spending the actual holiday week spending more time at the hotel or resort hopping, going to DTD or Disneyquest, and of course, there's no law against going back to the parks, but you won't be going at it at the same fevered pitch everyone else tends to do when they have more limited time to visit. Plus, there's always the hard-ticket Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, which happens after the park closes to the general public. You can try to get tickets for that during Christmas week, and then you know you have one extra really magical night in the park, at Christmastime, where crowds won't be so much of a factor.

Thank you for all your responses. After a restless nights sleep:dazzle: :dazzle:I still dont know what to do. We have till the april flights are released to make up our mind. Yes unfortunatly we do have to travel over the main holiday dates, we cant miss a day off school as we are travelling to wdw Dec1st -22nd this year:sohappy:. We have travelled to wdw in Feb (crowds light, weather bad), Sept (crowds light, weather hot, resturants mad busy), Oct (crowds lightish, weather perfect) & Nov (Weather good, atmosphere xmassy, crowds good).

I have always said :hammer:mad people who go over major holidays, but we have to join that brigade now:D

It all depends on what you want from your trip as there's pros and cons from each period you've mentioned.

Easter - a busy two weeks with very little in the way of special events. Weather is usually nice and warm

August - Very hot (maybe too hot for your sons) and quite busy until the schools go back

Christmas - depends when you go as the Christmas period at WDW is running from November. The Christmas / New Year period is extremely busy while November is a lot quieter. Weather is a bit hit and miss

My vote is At christmas time. We just went between thanksgiving and christmas this past year. During the week crowds weren't that bad(didn't need fastpass). Once the weekend hit it was busy, with much longer lines. In my own opinion this is the only time to go. It is worth it just for the christmas decorations

I've been to WDW four times in my life -- three of said trips took place at the end of August.
The crowds honestly aren't that bad, and while it goes get hot, there are plenty of opportunities to duck into A/C for a break.
My vote is for the end of August.

Ditto... you pretty much said what I would have. I lived in Orlando for three years, but before that, we normally took our vacations in August. (Most of my family have summer birthdays, and our anniversary is the last week of August.) The heat usually just borders unbearable before you get a brief downpour. Then you are cooled off, and can go back to having fun.

I bring along a spray bottle to mist our faces, and use the parkhopper pass to visit MK, AK, or the Studios for a few hours, go back to the hotel for a swim and to rest, and then usually spend the evening at Epcot's World Showcase. (If I want to go on Test Track or Soarin', for example, which has lengthy wait times in the afternoon, I plan one morning for Epcot.)

Ultimately, IMHO, it all depends on how much you enjoy the Holidays. If you are a Christmas nut like me, you absolutely HAVE to go in early December! WDW during the holidays just can't be beat, end of story. Yeah, it's gonna be busy, but the crowds are manageable and the weather is usually very pleasant. I was in heaven when we went in December of '06 because we caught a cold front while we were down there and we almost froze our tushies off...it was so wonderful!:D

We always go in April for our anniversary and we love it then too. It's hot in the spring but not oppressivley hot, at least in our experience, and WDW in the spring is beautiful especially Epcot during the Flower & Garden Festival.

We have never been in August but I promise you this...you'll never catch us anywhere near WDW in late summer! We were there in Sept./Oct. of last year and the heat and humidity was absolutely unbearable. We thought for sure it would be fairly cool in Sept./Oct. but it was the most oppressive heat we have ever experienced at WDW. If it's that hot in October I shudder to think of how hot it is in August! We still managed to have a good time but the heat and humidity drastically affected our enjoyment.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, it rained...every...stinkin'...day.........alot!

SO...I highly recommend that you go in December(specifically early December) but April is a good choice as well...and unless you were born in a sauna...in a volcano...on the sun...I highly suggest you avoid WDW in August!

Just my opinion, I know many others have said it's not that bad in August.
