Drinking Water Issues

Ok, so at this point I have almost every aspect of our trip planned (Thanks to all you awesome people and your invaluable help!)

But the one thing I'm still trying to figure out is the best way to take care of drinking water while in the parks.
I refuse to pay the insane bottle water price that WDW charges, and I have heard many times that the water fountains taste pretty gross.
I had thought about having water delivered to the resort from the grocery store (Garden Grocer) but seems like a pain and kind of expensive.

We won't have a car as we are using WDW transportation for everything.

Can someone give me a really good idea for solving my water problem?

thanks!

You thought wrong, it's not an issue with "tap water' or snobbery...please don't be ignorant and get off your high horse!!

I drink tap water at home all the time...I like the stuff. But the water at WDW tastes to me like it came directly from a swamp. I can't even stomach the ice. Back home, bottle water at a sporting event or amusement park is 3.50 to 4 dollars a bottle. 2 bucks a Disney is pretty darn good.

Please don't tell me what I can and can't think.

And my horse is no higher than yours.

Some people just refuse to drink tap water!

I think it's a pretentious thing, "I'm not going to drink the same water that the local peons drink."

That's a dumb statment. "I'm not going to drink the same water the local peons drink"

I'm from NY and there is a very BIG difference in the taste of Florida water and the taste of NY water. It's just a taste preference...quit being so paranoid sheesh!

That's exactly what I said. You must treat all tap water before using it for fish.

STOP YELLING AT ME.

If you want people to treat you with respect then you must treat them with respect. I seem to remember one of your prior posts saying something to the effect of "GET OFF YOUR SOAPBOX". You were yelling at another member who was simply expressing their opinion.

If you act respectfully, others will treat you accordingly.

From what I know, the awful taste of the water is due to a lot of sulphur found naturally in the water. I heard this from a person who has lived in Florida for years.

That's right. Here in southeast Georgia through central Florida, most of us get our tap water from the same aquifer, and there is a fair amount of sulfur and iron in it. There's even some areas here in Brunswick where you can smell the sulfur very strongly in the air. Therefore, the non-natives think it's "gross". But growing up with it and drinking it for near 40 years, it tastes fine to me. Even friends of mine from the south-west areas of GA don't like the water here. To me it doesn't taste any different than bottled water.

BTW, the only tap water I've never like the taste of was Milwaukee city water. Now that's some weird tasting water.

I'm not a snob about water but I do occasionally run into some NASTY tasting tap water. My friend from the other side of town finds my delicious tap water nasty, because she has a well.

I honestly can't recall if I thought the tap water tasted bad at WDW, it's been a few years. I also think it may taste different from park to park. There is after all a big difference in the age of them, I assume the pipes may be different. (Or is that just silly? I'm not a plumber after all.):p

The water from the bubblers in the parks is really not bad. Bubblers... the New England influence of my childhood is still rearing its ugly head. We always go with our bottles of Zephyrhills and refill from the bubblers as the day goes on. If you're a water snob, of course you won't like it, but it's not like you're going to be tasting copper piping or anything in the water.

Well, I for one have absolutely noooo problem in owning my problem which is that I *aaammm* a water snob. I call myself this all the time. I like Dasani. That's just about all I ever drink (besides Starbucks but that's an entirely different issue). I don't like Aquafina or any other brand. Must be Dasani. I don't think it's spring water or some wonderfully superior water than anything else. I just think it tastes good.

My name is Kelly and I'm a Dasani-holic Water Snob.

But seriously, in past years when we drove down I would bring my case of Dasani then refill at fountains and add drink packets. I did that a lot the year we went and I had the flu. This year we are flying and I imagine I'll be ordering our supply of beverages from Garden Grocer. I must have Dasani and the hubby can't live without Dr.Pepper. Imagine going to Disney with a Dr.Pepper-holic and they don't sell the stuff there! It's stressful for the poor dear. LOL! You shoulda seen him when he found a vending machine with Mr.Pibb by the buses at Epcot. I think I saw tears.

Want weird water? After Katrina the local Budweiser bottler had cans of water. Yes, cans. Now that was funky. I swear it tasted like a tin can. It had such a wang to it. Ugh.

I'm sorry to have to break the news to you... but Danasi, like Aquafina is just municipal water that is filtered by Coke or Pepsi bottlers and then resold at the same price as their soft drinks (cool racket since its cheaper to make, no syrup or carbonation). If you notice any difference in taste between the two then its either because one bottlers filters are getting dirty or its all in your head... I pulled a sneaky on my cousin the Aquafina and served him a cold bottle of Britta poured into a fina bottle... he never knew it.

I guess I'm just saying that whatever Danasi you buy in Orlando is probably going to taste like any other bottled water they sell down there... it maybe different from what your used to but if it is then the Danasi is too since they all come form the same municipal source.

Like I said, I could care less where the water in a Dasani bottle came from if it's the same water in all the different brands. I don't care. In my mind's eye I always prefer Dasani. Everyone has their fixations or quirks in life. :hammer: If the bottles of Dasani are $2 or $10 if I'm thirsty and I see one, I'll pay for it. To each his own. But certainly no bubbles burst here. I'm aware that someone is making lots of money off me. If it was an issue I wouldn't buy the stuff. Right? I grew up on Central Florida tap water because we had no options. When we were kids how many of us would drink straight from the garden hose...not limited to just the hose at our houses? I'm sure the reason I only drink bottled is because I'm an adult now and I can. LOL! Even when we were on well water a few years ago I wouldn't drink it. Just me. I know. Straaaange... :D

Anywhoo, happy hydration gang!!!

That's what I was trying to say.
Just to kick it up a notch (and hopefully give crassmonkey yet another thing to laugh about  ) the day is coming when control of/access to drinkable water is going to dictate who's who here on planet Earth.... :lookaroun

I have to add that I bought a gallon sized bottle of water to take on a trip and was shocked to see after reading the label that it was the same "city water" from our town that I could not stomach..
It is all a matter of taste though and I am used to artisian well water, if you have had water from a source that deep, it is so cold and good you cannot beat it, there is no sulfur or as I call it "Rotten egg", chlorine or iron taste, but that is my opinion and if someone else likes the water at WDW then that makes your trip even easier.

NYC tap is the best tasting water, so I am spoiled. That said, buy cases of water and have it delivered. Chug two bottles before you hit the park, and carry one in with you. Works well.
