Drinking Water Issues

Ok, so at this point I have almost every aspect of our trip planned (Thanks to all you awesome people and your invaluable help!)

But the one thing I'm still trying to figure out is the best way to take care of drinking water while in the parks.
I refuse to pay the insane bottle water price that WDW charges, and I have heard many times that the water fountains taste pretty gross.
I had thought about having water delivered to the resort from the grocery store (Garden Grocer) but seems like a pain and kind of expensive.

We won't have a car as we are using WDW transportation for everything.

Can someone give me a really good idea for solving my water problem?

thanks!

Invest in a filtered water bottle ( I have a Brita, but they no longer make them), and just fill it at the water fountains.
Also, if you pick up the little flavored things to add to the water, that helps too.

At my work, we have a Pepsi fountain system... and the "ice tea" tab doubles as a plain water tab... like how the "sierra mist" doubles as a plain soda water tab. This works out great for us! Instead of opening a brand new bottle of water, we fill up our existing bottle. The water is clean and very cold.

I'm not sure where you exactly are staying... but if your resort has a food court, consider filling up a couple of bottles before you hit the park. You could even bring an insulated bottle to keep the water cold throughout the day. I'm "pretty sure" the machines at DW have the "water tabs"

We've never tried this (never really looked) but don't consider it "stealing" if you have purchased a refillable mug for your stay.

Cool, I think I will combine those ideas and get a filter water bottle, and fill it up with quick service water.

By the way, those flavor packets for water gross me out. I like drinking water, not some fruity crystal light junk

thanks for the tips guys!!!

Have you tried the Propel flavor packets? I prefer those because they are not an overpowering fruit taste. I like just plain water too but I can't stand the taste of Florida water. :hurl:

I don't think the water is bad at all, but that could just have to do with the quality of the water where I live. But if you really don't like it, I would suggest a filtered water bottle like others have mentioned.

If you ask at any quick service counter food service they will give you free water in a cup and with ice. Little known fact but I have done it many times myself and beats payin 2 plus dollars for a bottle of water.

I've always found Orlando-area public water supply to have a horrible taste and smell, but it seemed like on our trip last week, the water at Disney resort and parks wasn't too bad....

I've seen people post on other boards that Costco will give you free deliver on a case of water to the resorts. Apparently people do this all the time, and it's insanely cheap. A case of one liter Poland Spring bottles is only $8 or so up here.

Sometimes Staples has a good deal like that, too - though they may have a $50 minimum which puts them in the same category as GardenGrocer.com. If you don't want anything else, it's not worth it.

Have I missed something, or has there been an issue with the water at Disney lately? Everytime we have been the fountain water has been totally drinkable with no funky taste.

I can't speak for everybody else but I am used to well or bottled water. Public water tastes like chlorine to me and Orlando is really bad at least to me.

Some people just refuse to drink tap water!

I think it's a pretentious thing, "I'm not going to drink the same water that the local peons drink."

I don't mind tap and I don't mind Orlando water, I think it tastes fine but if you REALLY have an aversion I guess the filter bottle is the way to go. And yes any counter service will give you free water and ice. And the stands give you free ice. So actually you could bring a few bottles with you in your bag, ask for a cup of ice and put the water in there...

Down here in the armpit of Texas, we were on a boil notice for 3 days last week (E.coli & fecal coliform in the water)--I've sworn off tap water altogether and filter everything now. Yuck :hurl:

I've got a Brita w/replaceable filters that works great :)

Haha... you guys will all think I'm such a weirdo! I ADORE the taste of Orlando water. I'm so strange that I even fill up an empty bottle before I go home so that I can savor the taste of it back here in Chicago! To each his own.
