Our last day was Saturday 1/9 and they had begun draining the moat. Does anyone have any pictures or news how that is progressing? I was hoping to see it drained before we left.

Thanks

Are they just draining it in front of the Castle (similar to when they were working on the Liberty Square bridge)? Or are they draining the entire Hub waterway?

No matter how much they drain, they're still going to have to build a temporary dam somewhere... The Hub waterway is directly connected to the Jungle Cruise waterways, so they can't just drain the whole system completely. (Of course now would've been a GREAT time to have a simultaneous refurb of Jungle Cruise...)

Rob, Your are absolutely correct. I didn’t think about it being connected to the Jungle ruise. I bet they do build a temporary dam somewhere along there.

In a vaguely related note, speaking of draining things, Miceage has some nice photos of the Rivers of America refurb getting underway at Disneyland.

I didn't see where they had the dam built but they had already begun draining it. The waterfalls were shut off and the water was down considerably around the castle and under the Liberty Square bridge and in front of tomorrow land. I didn't notice if it was down in front of The Crystal Palace or not. I believe it was, if that is the case the dam will have to be built down by the Jungle cruise area.

Does the waterway run by the Crystal Palace? If so, I wonder if they wouldn't dam it off over there, since the CP is closed right now as well....

Don't you think that while they refurb the castle they update it so that the walls have built in LED lights so they don't need to put those Christmas on and off every year? I would think there would be some type of LED lights they could install that wouldn't be visible and look like Christmas lights.

Although that IS possible, and a good idea for future buildings, it's WAY to extensive for now. The entire facade of the castle would have to be rebuilt.

Even though it's great that they did work...It should NEVER come to that. Especially at Disneyland.

Not exactly good show.

Not true, at least to my knowledge.

The HUB water way and the Jungle River are not connected at all.

I'll try and explain it the best I can off that map. Basically the HUB water flows past the Treehouse, around near the Jungle entrance(where Shrunken Neds Boats are), and back towards the jungle break room, where it ends.

There is a separation backstage, and I believe an existing separation(I believe it's a metal dam by the backstage entrance) on stage.

If I recall correctly, the moat water is connected to the Adventureland canal that runs around the Treehouse. That is how the Swan Boats got over there.
The Jungle Cruise water is seperate from them both.

Disneyland may be different. I know at one time they were connected out there, but I doubt they still are.

Edit: Yeah...what Sir Goofy said.
See photo.
