Downtown Disney rumor

That's just it though. It needs to be an all-ages restaurant during the day and a night club at night.

But, to respond to the original response, T-Rex and Rainforest would still be alright. Their enormous lines and wait times would suggest that there is much more demand for these types of venues. The AC would be the perfect type of addition.
Both T-Rex and Rainforest are the same Operating Partner, Landry's. T-Rex wasn't even a question mark when it was proposed - with the numbers that Rainforest does, T-Rex takes some of the pressure off of them. AC could/would do fine in the new DTD, and would be interesting as a lightly themed venue during the day with characters making appearances, then turning over to a more show/club-ish experience at night. I don't know that Disney wants to operate that type of venue, though - one of the F&B groups within the company would have to take charge or they'd have to have one of the OPs operate for them. Could work, if someone within DTD wanted to bring back the Club.

I'm just surprised Landry's has attempted to license the idea from Disney. I'd think they could do something pretty spectacular with it. Think of it as a Raingforest or T-Rex type restaurant based on world travels.

That's not Landry's model. They include "entertainment" in their portfolio along with themed restaurants, some including animatronics, but they're not a live entertainment company. They're 90% restaurant, 5% hotel/casino and 5% "entertainment", meaning Aquariums, the Pier in Galveston and a few others, but they are a restaurant company first and foremost. The rest is ancillary, for differing reasons, but not because they want to be in those businesses. Something like AC that has a live actor component is not in their wheelhouse, so to speak.

While it is not at all the same as AC, we go to Trader Sam's at the Disneyland Hotel every night we are there. It's always packed.

People/companies have tried to do this and Disney wasn't interested (reportedly.)

That'd be cool, but as long as they don't take out the WORLD OF DISNEY store that's my favorite! Will they be closing Downtown Disney when these renovations begin?

So is their any entertainment planned - surely shops and dining can't drive people to DTD area?
They certainly can. The parking at DTD is always jammed packed! Any person who doesn't want to go to the park that day or can't afford it will go to DTD!

The parking in one section of DTD is always packed, because it's a small lot. But I've been there during some of the busiest times of the year at WDW and never had an issue finding a spot.

And I'm not sure that DTD would necessarily be an option for someone who couldn't afford to get into the parks......

The parking is only a problem because in such situations many of the people traveling by car are only willing to walk about 600' to their destination. This is why malls tend to be surrounded by parking.

It actually is used by folks trying to get around the parking fees at the parks. And I have had trouble each time we go and try to park at DTD after 5pm. It is a sardine can. I even had some woman try to whip her car into a spot that I was patiently waiting for during our last trip. Thankfully the guy pulling out saw what she was going to try to do and he backed up enough to prevent her from getting the spot. As we got out of the car the woman, who actually waited to yell at me, said "We can't find a spot either a**hole!" Like that's my fault and I should just let her come in at the last second and have my spot?! LOL Finding a spot in the evening at DTD is a nightmare. The garage would definitely help with that.

Which means Disney must know the idea has some kind of merit (or else they'd be more than happy to work with outside companies on the idea).

In these days of Disney turning every attraction into a movie or tv show, maybe we'll get an Adventurer's Club movie someday and then the club can be reborn. It would be a great concept for a movie.

If there's money to be made, I'm sure they could step outside of their wheelhouse. If they could do aquariums, they could certainly do live entertainment (especially since it's already been done and everything's already spelled out for them).

I think it's more of an issue of Disney wanting to save it for themselves, but not motivated enough to actually do anything with it.

And that scenario could play out in a garage as well.....

Help me...what does World of Disney have that say Emporium or MouseGear does not?
