They usually show up a day or two before going live.

Yeah, I checked for v88-90 as well. Maybe just zoom 20 isn't there (what I always look for).

EDIT: Yep, z20 isn't uploaded yet but z19 is. Neat.

One other interesting note from the new map: Element by Westin (Anaheim Resort Convention Center) was removed.

Actually that's interesting in itself. I've seen it where when z20 takes this long to to show up, it's just never does. There was a slight misalignment for a majority of the map (like everything was off by a pixel in each direction), so maybe they aborted the upload to fix it.

This is interesting (at least to me...I haven't been following DL rumors lately so forgive me if this is old news). A new version of the map showed up on the servers today and it seems they're converting Stage 17 in DCA to retail space accessible from outside the park named the "Backlot Premiere Shop". Clever.

Micechat todays rumor blog is saying it is to be a Company D store for Employees but with them putting it on the map seems like its going to be open to the public. They also state they have an abundance of seasonal merchandise they couldnt sell during the closure is the reason they are opening Company D in October. Maybe they could be opening it to be more of a Clearance Warehouse but with the name kinda throws that out.

Company D is an off property employees only store that's been around for decades. I don't believe the Micechat article was referencing the building at DCA.

I reread the article and it was referencing the Stage 17 building. I did misread the part that said "was" and not "is" opening a Company D store.
Here is the part that talked about it.

-He said the park was also contemplating opening a temporary Company D at Stage 17 in Disney California Adventure. “Visitors would go through the large wooden gates with the sign ‘12’ on it and be directed backstage, to the store. If instituted, temporary walls and extra security will br present."

The Company D talk reminds me. I've seen that in Florida, there are thrift/antique stores that Disney liquidates old park and resort items to. Art from hotel rooms, light fixtures, even some items from the park, such as a barrel fixture from the gift shop attached to Pirates. Is there anything like that in California?

Yes. There's a warehouse next to the company D store known as Property control where old park and hotel used stuff gets sold. As well as merchandise.

I got some pretty awesome stuff from their during my brief period at the Resort.

Paging Mr. Morrow on youtube has visited a few other unofficial ones, and at least some of them appear to buy from Disney direct. Here's an example:

Anything like this around here?

Not that I have seen on a regular basis except Property Control for CM only that SuddenStorm referenced. You have to be a CM to access that area and you cannot access as a visitor.

The Grand Californian Hotel refurb furnishings did show up at a Hotel Surplus Outlet in Van Nuys couple of year ago but that all I have seen.

There also used to be Character Warehouse type stores around Disneyland that are no longer around. They are similar to the ones in Florida sell discount Theme Park Merchandise. Now you can find some park items at Disney Store Outlets.

The Mickey 90th Sippers did show up at Goodwill couple of weeks ago

The new Evolv Express contactless security scanners at Downtown Disney are similar to the no-touch bag check systems used at Disney Springs outdoor shopping center and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park in Florida, according to https://.com/2020/10/disneyland-res...curity-system-ahead-of-theme-parks-reopening/.

The Evolv Express scanners can screen up to 3,600 people per hour — 10 times faster than traditional metal detectors, according to the Massachusetts-based company.

The system uses real-time artificial intelligence software to detect guns and other weapons on people’s bodies or in their bags. Visitors walk through the blade-like scanners at a natural pace while carrying their bags and keeping their belongings in their pockets. The contactless system reduces physical interactions and allows security guards to ask people to open their bags or remove items for closer inspection.

A thermal imaging package can be added to the Evolv Express system that allows for automatic temperature screenings — although it reduces throughput to under 1,300 people per hour.

Evolv promotes the system as a way to reduce labor costs by up to 70%. Disney just announced that 28,000 employees would be laid off at Disneyland, Disney World and throughout the company’s theme park, cruise line, travel planning, publishing, gaming and retail division.

Evolv Express scanners are used at Six Flags amusement parks, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City and Wynn Las Vegas casino and hotel.<<

So hope these are retained and expanded in use at DLR! Even pre-Covid I hated people going through and touching all the stuff in my bag after having just touched all the stuff in several thousand other people's bags and strollers!

I was there yesterday, after you walk through the new scanners you're still required to go through normal bag check. So the Cast Members are still touching your stuff with these new scanners.

I was walking through security with my uncle once and he forgot he had this good quality Swiss Army knife on him and didn’t want to go back to the car so he hid it in the Mickey and Friends men’s restroom. Corner stall in the back of the toilet seat cover dispenser. At night when we went back to get it it was gone. I wonder if he took the time to see how many toil seat covers were left when he placed it there?

Having a late Lunch at Earl of Sandwich. Order of the screening process.

Temperature checks sponsored by Hoag Hospitals.

The new screening. Some folks are sent to secondary.

Normal bag check.

Normal Metal Detectors.

Pictures later.

If the new screening works there won’t be a need for normal back checks or metal detectors right? I mean unless they find something.

Yes, if the tests show that the system is reliable, then the new system will be the combination bag check and metal detector. If the system flags you, you are sent to secondary for further inspection.

But for the majority of folks, it is thank you and enjoy your visit.
