I'm sorry, but Disney and Disneyland have been a part of my whole life. It's really hard (nay, impossible) to cure myself of my like of Disneyland. Mind you, I have tried, by cutting myself from everything involving Disneyland-related, unless it pertains to current events. But it's really hard to do so.

Maybe try to find a new passion, like male modeling or high finance.

I'm not talking about your passion and interest in Disney and Disneyland. I'm talking about your fixation on the idea of Disneyland or even all of Disney being shuttered. It's not just a passing concern. You seem to be seeking out any little bit that you can twist into confirmation of your fears. I understand its a fixation but it's also irrational and clearly causing you undue stress.
On the contrary, I am constantly hoping against hope that there is information that the parks will open soon. I don't mean in some crude way like this, but for real. But the news I find keeps saying just the opposite.

Let's not forget this has never happened before. I am not used to the unknown here.

You’ve been worrying yourself about this before the pandemic. Time exists beyond soon. Just because there is not a date doesn’t mean it will not happen.

I was thinking that after Newsom made an exception for parks that Disneyland would be safe. Then, they made the decision to shut down after all. Ever since then, I've been avoiding anything Disneyland-related that was not affiliated with COVID. When I had heard the rumored reopening for in July, I was excited. And when it didn't happened, I was utterly devastated.

Every time I see someone talk about Disneyland during this time, I can't help but be disappointed.

Seems like there's a crapload of people trying to get into Downtown Disney Resort.

I honestly don’t know what to tell you because this just does not follow. Even if amusement parks retained their exception, Disney decided to close the Disneyland Resort. Even if the parks stayed open, tourism across the globe has dropped significantly. Even being open, Walt Disney World has entire hotels closed because they cannot fill them. Tourism is not safe in a pandemic but that doesn’t mean Disneyland is going to close.

"Won't open soon" is not the same as "never opening again."

So, do you have a source that says DL is never going to open?
No, but it just feels that way the longer it keeps on. "Indefinitely" has a way of becoming "permanent" in a very sneaky way, you know.

But it is closed. I really don't know how it can afford to stay shut down without taking more drastic actions than they have already.

"Feels" and "facts" are two different things.

DL will certainly reopen in full once a vaccine is widely distributed. If that takes 8 months, it takes 8 months. Disney is sitting on enough cash and credit reserves to wait that long to reopen a business that makes it billions.

Don't forget, its movie side of things has been compromised as well, so that's out. All it has there is basically Disney Plus.

Disney's movie have been back to production for a while now. Shang-Chi just wrapped productions.

When I said Disney has the resources, it has the resources. In the previous quarter when everything was shut down, Disney basically broke even because their TV channels were still making a profit. Now, most parks are re-opened and content production has been ramped up.

Read their last financial statement and get facts before you continue to throw out things that aren't grounded in reality like how you think their movie productions are going and how you think their finances are. If you don't know these things, you should be asking rather than spouting off your ideas of how you think they're doing is the reality. It's not.

Who should I ask?

Here's the deal...
  1. Parks are closed for the foreseeable future.
  2. They will not close forever. Push that completely out of your mind.
  3. If there is a vaccine available widely (like, for everyone which most "in the know" believe there will), they will reopen by summer if not earlier.
  4. Layoffs were quite honestly over due. It made zero sense for Disney to keep hemmorhaging money.
  5. If these folks have not already found jobs by the time Disney opens, I'm confident they will welcome them back with open arms albeit gradually as they open up slowly.
  6. A year from now, we will all be reminiscing about the great Disneyland closure of 2020 and moaning about how packed the parks are again.
Gotta just let it go at this point...don't worry about what you can't control and stop going to this worst case scenario you've built in your head as that will NEVER happen.
