Downtown Disney District Extends to Buena Vista Street

Disney was super hesitant to use the parks for open shopping and dining because it "weakens" the brand/content/value of the parks. They don't really want Joe Schmoe to be able to walk in and take a castle photo for free (as weird as it may sound). DCA acts as a compromise for this (and this is also why I highly doubt DL ever opens for "free."

I have been trying to stay out of the main forums for a while because of how passionate I am about what's going on, but now I have no choice...

I sincerely believe that this situation proves that Disneyland is never going to truly open anytime soon, and probably never will. Isn't just shops/restaurants what Downtown Disney is for? This solution is not just a Band-Aid solution, but also kind of an insult.

I feel that reopening just shops/restaurants is an example of doing something by halves, which I'm told is frowned upon in life. It basically means: "To do something half-heartedly or only partially," which is exactly what they're doing here. They are "trying," which Yoda warns against: "Do or do not. There is no try." This is going to hurt them in the long run.
Were you this insulted by Downtown Disney opening without indoor seating, capacity on outdoor seating slashed, most of the retailers (other than WoD) closed, and even more security booths?

I haven't heard anything of the sort (though the lack of indoor seating doesn't surprise me). I've been more focused on Disneyland itself.

Ah, so you're saying a ticketed event is on the horizon for DL proper...

But that proves that Disney doesn't need attractions to be successful.
You mean to tell me that all theme parks in California are going to get rid of their attractions because they've been successful during COVID with shopping/dining events?

Sorry that logic doesn't track. No way does Disney ever get rid of all attractions in Disneyland or DCA.

You really need to work on breaking this fixation instead of feeding it. You're just causing undue stress for yourself.

But no matter how matter expensive they may be to get rid of, they will always be more expensive to operate and keep going.

I'm sorry, but Disney and Disneyland have been a part of my whole life. It's really hard (nay, impossible) to cure myself of my like of Disneyland. Mind you, I have tried, by cutting myself from everything involving Disneyland-related, unless it pertains to current events. But it's really hard to do so.

As @George Lucas on a Bench said, this is Paul Pressler's dream come true. His "dream" was to turn Disney parks into huge malls, and now that dream is sure to come true.

I'm not talking about your passion and interest in Disney and Disneyland. I'm talking about your fixation on the idea of Disneyland or even all of Disney being shuttered. It's not just a passing concern. You seem to be seeking out any little bit that you can twist into confirmation of your fears. I understand its a fixation but it's also irrational and clearly causing you undue stress.
