Downtown Disney District Extends to Buena Vista Street

No offense but some guy on a message board claiming someone hates the parks because he doesn't like his policies sudenly makes it a fact. It's his opinion, a very hyperbolic one, but that's all it is.

Thank you, that's exactly right. I am merely expressing my opinion on why I think Governor Newsom has singled out the theme park industry to remain closed for a year or more.

As an example of how I got to my conclusion that he hates theme parks; I also think Governor Newsom hates gas powered cars, which is why he has banned their sale in California in the 2030's.

I suppose the phrase "Newsom hates fill-in-the-blank" is a bit broad and easily hyperbole, but we generally see that type of thing on message boards like this. That's certainly how I've been often communicating here and on other boards since the late 1990's, with broad hyperbole.

Just think of all the crap we used to say about Paul Pressler twenty years ago! Gavin Newsom is being treated with kid gloves in comparison to how we talked about Pressler back then! 🤣

I don't know how many times I have to say it, but here's my understanding of the difference between a cold and a flu;
  • A cold is milder, and confined to your head with coughing, stuffed up nose, runny nose, etc.
  • The flu is more severe, and is combined with similar cold symptoms plus fever, body aches, congested lungs, etc. A flu can also subject the elderly and sickly to other health problems because it's more severe than a cold.
I think the two things are caused by different viruses, but I can't tell you the exact differences in the viruses.

How did I do? What am I missing? Is this being tracked in my personnel file here on this website? Is this going to come up in my annual review with my manager?
You are an adult who claims to be a "news junkie" and claims to be informed about current issues who is intentionally telling people to ignore the advise and concerns of doctors and other medical professionals. The difference between the cold and flu is basic, easy to obtain information. That you wish to happily identify as so profoundly, fundamentally and willfully ignorant of basic medical information is on you. But glad to see we can also add "Does not know what causes the flu" to the list. Can't figure out what causes the flu but you know the Science and Data of SARS-CoV-2.

You haven't noticed the signature line I've had for the past few months? I thought it was terribly clever!

I've had many colds and a few cases of the flu in my lifetime, but I don't think I ever thought to investigate the virology or complicated medical science behind it.

When I get sick, I usually just sit around watching The Price Is Right with a box of Kleenex.

Intensive care is not exactly the sort of training that can be rushed.
But what you can do is move people up the ladder.

The new folks go to the lowest rung, take care of the day to day stuff.

And then move folks who have had some ICU experience into full time roles until we get past the crisis.

All of this can happen again, with just one call from Governor Newsom to President Trump. Thousands of beds can be built in field hospitals from Sacramento to San Diego, and the USNS Mercy can arrive in San Pedro on Saturday to add a few hundred ICU beds to LA's supply.

Do you intentionally set your kitchen on fire, because you know you have a fire extinguisher nearby?

But that means Downtown Disney and DCA don't stand a chance.

Newsom might as well throw out his whole color-tier system and just keep everyone in total lockdown until April or whenever a vaccine is available to the ordinary masses, because nothing else seems to be working.
If by chance, they keep DTD open for shopping only, they better get rid of the $10 parking fee. Personally, I think it's just time for them to shut it down until after the first of the year at least.

That’s not a new idea. Hospitals have been planning for and doing what you describe. They have also people working outside their speciality. Even then, that only gets you so far. There are only so many people you can promote early and the more you do that the more risk is involved. People working outside their speciality are also a risk and they’re now not doing their own work. There are entire staffs that work because of the doctor, so a doctor not doing their work means potentially less or even no work for some of those staff members.

Is the OC already at 15% or less vacancy in ICUs? Or are you talking about if levels get that bad.
Not OC, but all of Southern California including Mono County and Santa Barbara County.

It is about 20% currently. So if the "region" falls under 15% , 2 days later all the new restrictions happen region wide. There are 5 regions in the State.

It is predicted to happen in about a week.

I don't even know what that analogy is supposed to mean. I just got home after a 9 hour drive so my brain is extra mushy, but I just can't even understand that one. :D

OC hospital capacity actually increased today. Yesterday the ICU capacity had 17% left in OC, but today it improved and went up to 20%. So apparently it varies day to day, by several percentage points per day.

What's interesting is that apparently if it were to hit 15% for one single day, everything gets shut down immediately for a minimum of 3 weeks. I have no idea how it works after that, as the information provided by the state was very vague.

I've been listening to talk radio for the past 9 hours in the car, stations from the Bay Area to SoCal, and the confusion of this new "Regional Stay At Home Order" thing from Newsom is widespread up and down the state. Talk radio hosts and phone callers alike from major California cities are all confused about how/what/when/why this takes effect.

I do not believe I am overstepping my bounds, but in the past he has mentioned having autism. I genuinely believe he does not understand the willful exaggeration and even outright lying that does take place here.

If true, this explains a lot. Thank you. I was genuinely confused about our exchange in some places the other day.

It means calling in the army medics so that some people can hang out with their friends on Saturday night, is not a good use of taxpayer money.

Thanks for the information! So weird that just one day closes things for 3 weeks. I think everyones been confused by the orders since april.

They don't actually alert the public with fliers or phone alerts. Do they expect everyone to do daily online research to see what the current rules are?

Yeah, who knows? Apparently hotels are closed in California again unless you are a "first responder"? The talk radio hosts were confused about that too today.

But last night I checked in to a Hampton Inn in Redding, and no one said a word to me except to offer me free bottled water and a cookie. No lobby signage, no communication from HiltonHonors, nothing. A few hours earlier when I crossed the California border from Oregon, the California border checkpoint on I-5 wasn't even open in mid afternoon. Just completely unstaffed border processes to enter this state. So who knows?!?

Stay at Home Order has been triggered for the SoCal Region after the states health department reported that the regions ICU Capacity has fallen to 13.1% as of tonight.

Order goes into effect tomorrow at 1pm and the restrictions are to be implemented within 24 hours after the Order goes into effect.

Oops. I just saw your post after I started a new thread for the new order.

It would seem to me that when I read the verbiage that Downtown Disney restaurants are now closed effective tomorrow. That also closes Carthay Circle Al Fresco Terrace Not Indoor Dining, or whatever that thing was called, plus the Buena Vista Street Starbucks and Taste Pilots Grill.

What a mess. The dedicated thread to this weekend's news and imminent closures is here...

And that means many who were scheduled to work shifts are now not going to get hours. I hope they all have rent and food paid for this month.

And that Disney and the various third party restaurants in DTD likely way over ordered on food.
