Or more exactly, the purpose was never there; they just changed the marketing. It proved to not be profitable.

I'm optimistic and hoping the ticket prices don't go up too much before I go back!Marketing? Not just the marketing changed.Look at the park.Is there any optimistic and grand hope for the future left?
Because it didn't work. The messages that are there are choosen to be ignored and interpreted in a way that does not hold true to the original Epcot.Marketing? Not just the marketing changed.Look at the park.Is there any optimistic and grand hope for the future left?SSE has a bit,LWTL and the ending message on MS is then only thing I can think of.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.It just kinda defeats the purpose of having an Epcot style park.We already have a place for futuristic cartoons-Tomorrow Land. Why have two?Why not make Epcot back into what it's supposed to be?A park for Discovery and Inspiration?
If you have a reason I sure would like to hear it.:waveNot being rude,I honestly would)That is what a discussion board is for!

SSE is all about the future and is presented in a way that connects with both parents and children. The post show area is not Innovention Middle of the Park, but an interactive extension of the ride that showcases the connectivity of the global community.
Universe of Energy hasn't changed in over ten years, but still holds the optimistic message of finding new engery sources.
Mission: Space you covered.
Test Track's relevance to the future is on par with World of Motion's. Ride our ride and then see next years models with a concept car thrown in.
The Sea provides information regarding research that will benefit the future of marine animals. Who cares if you can't ride the hydrolators anymore.
The Land hasn't changed. You lost Kitchen Kabaret for Soarin'.
Imagination, although not a favorite attraction, did attempt to explain and research the concept of imagination.

The Land: The fountain is gone
Imagination: The removal of a creepy old man that in real life, if he lived down the street from you, you wouldn't let your kids go near. This wall of text was to demonstrate the different points of view and I fully acknowledge that I painted with a large brush.
Also to keep in line with my other post, even though I am aware of these concepts (both good and bad), I don't really care. I'm there to have a good time not contemplate the meaning of a theme park.

Why not make Epcot back into what it's supposed to be?

SSE: Flash based animation and a dumb down scriptAnimation doesn't bother me.Script, not that really. But where is the relatable factor? How does it make ME feel involved?Yeah,I would like some new stuff for the decent,a black tunnel with just a video, really isn't Disney quality. But,SSE COULD be worse.I was actually expecting it and was moderately pleasantly surprised,
Universe of Energy: An untouch pavilion that needs an updateLOVE UoE-but it is getting old.And it's MILES beyond the old one.I was bored silly in that thing.
Mission:Space: Killer of Horizon and a probable location of a secret Michael Eisner led puppy burning operationOK,while I am upset that Horizons is no more,I do know that becasue of it's state this is a worthy replacement.I just wish everyone could ride.
Test Track: A ride in carTrue,it's OK.
The Seas: PixarTrue...Nemo is great but there is NOTHING educational here. It's just a sea based Fantasyland darkride
The Land: The fountain is goneI love the land.EPCOT's perfect pavilion.Something for everyone!-A direction the park needs to go in.
Imagination: The removal of a creepy old man that in real life, if he lived down the street from you, you wouldn't let your kids go near.Hey,Dreamfinder was awesome. My kids(If I had any,I'm only 16 LOL:lolcould hang with him anytime!I DO miss the original creativity and message though.

Your whole post was great, but one snippet says more than all the EPCOT angst posts put together...
Think about that... some here have taken to heart some marketing hype and are actually contemplating the MEANING of a THEME PARK. It's beyond belief. I understand looking for meaning in life, but let's at least move outside the turnstiles of a vacation destination. :zipit:
Epcot is what it's supposed to be...it's just not what you want it to be.
Now, if you are refering to how it "used to be", then that is different, and the first thing you have to do is ansnwer the question as to why it was changed in the first place.
I believe it was changed because it wasn't working. Others believe Disney has become lazy and lost their "vision". I think the people that believe that simply don't remember what the park was really like 20-25 years ago.:snore:
Is this a discussion of an ecumenical nature or financial?
Once again...this post deserves a standing ovation!!!Epcot is what it's supposed to be...it's just not what you want it to be.

I couldn't agree more! Epcot is what it's supposed to be...it has trasformed from a boring educational-type park to a park that I now enjoy immensly. And I can only assume the general public seems to enjoy as Disney wouldn't just be making these changes b/c they felt like it.
As I mentioned before, it has changed in the exact same way that the Studios is currently changing...it's just for some reason, people are more accepting of the Studios change, but can't comprehend the Epcot change and I don't understand why.
JUst a quick note here...Not really.Ask any other teenager, and EPCOT is still the most boring place on earth. My friends at school think I'm out of my mind.
:lookaroun
The interactive video and the ability to send a momento of your ride in the post show area is not enough? You can't be more involved than choosing the ending of your ride.Animation doesn't bother me.Script, not that really. But where is the relatable factor? How does it make ME feel involved?Yeah,I would like some new stuff for the decent,a black tunnel with just a video, really isn't Disney quality. But,SSE COULD be worse.I was actually expecting it and was moderately pleasantly surprised,
I also wanted to flag this as a perfect can't see the forest through the trees (no offense). Has it ever been consider that the dark ride portion of The Seas is to actually portray you going into the sea? Just because one small facet of the pavilion is not educational does not mean the rest of the pavilion does not have merit. Have you read the information in the bays? Why does this pavilion not count as education? The Seas: PixarTrue...Nemo is great but there is NOTHING educational here. It's just a sea based Fantasyland darkride
Yes, when comparing it to MK or DHS, or even AK sometimes, it still is the more boring of the 4 in a way...JUst a quick note here...Not really.Ask any other teenager, and EPCOT is still the most boring place on earth. My friends at school think I'm out of my mind.

Hey,those are my friends!:ROFLOL:
Eh,That's true on the most part but even in the honors and AP classes,(where the supposedly "nerdy" smart kids are(and they are:lookaroun))Epcot is still "The park with the big boring ball and the really cool fast track ride and space thing."
But let's not get off topic.:lookaroun
