Do you always get your "requests?"

Hello everyone..I finally completed my online check-in for CBR...I'm really looking forward to my trip. I called up reservations and asked for Jamaica 45 and the woman said that she put it down but it is not guaranteed.

I was wondering if anyone else calls ahead and requests a certain building, section or room. Do you usually get it or is it a hit or miss thing? It would be nice to know ahead of time with your room number etc. but I guess you don't find out until you arrive.

Any thoughts or input on this? Thanks

The only time we have made a request was for our February 2011 trip. My husband and I wanted to be in the same building as my mom and brother at Riverside. I also requested that both rooms be in building 14 or 15, though that was less important than our rooms being in the same building

We ended up in building 90, which was fine (great, actually), and we were 2 rooms down from my mom and brother...so half our requests were fulfilled! :)

We make a request everytime we book and for the most part get it with no problem. There have been a few times they could not honor the exact request, but they always do their best to try to get you close to what you wanted. Like if you request a certain building first floor and it is not availble, they will always do their best to get you in an ajacent building on the first floor or something like that. The CM's have always gone out of their way to find something to make us happy. :)

I believe they try to fill the requests in the order that they are on the reservation - so try and put them in order of priority.

The more general your request, the more likely it is to be fulfilled.

I've had clients that have made 10 requests and couldn't understand why all 10 weren't met.....

With the exception of last June at the Poly, we have always gotten what we requested. We wanted a specific building with a connecting room for my dad. We ended up getting the building, but my dad was about three rooms away. To be fair to Disney, we arrived on Saturday afternoon, and he didn't arrive until the following Wednesday. Probably just too difficult to arrange. I wasn't happy, but in retrospect three doors down, in the same building, on the same floor was pretty good.

We have "almost" always gotten our requests. The only time there was any trouble was when we were checking into the GF in June of 2009. The guy behind the desk said that our room would be ready at 3 pm. Sure no problem and we headed to lunch. Then 20 mins later we got a text saying our room was ready. After lunch, we went to check in and the room was terrible. The Mickey lamp had a broken nose and the furniture was chipped and it was one of the top floors so the ceiling was slanted and felt very cramped. I wasn't paying all this money for that room. So we called front desk and spoke to guy we had originally spoke to and he said "oh, well, we gave you that room b/c you were already here" and I said that we would be fine waiting for the room that we were supposed to originally get. He said that we couldn't have that room any more b/c it had been given away to another guest. None of this made any sense. So I was crying and the bell hop was trying to talk to the manager and my DH was working to get this all sorted out. They didn't have any more rooms they could give us that were upper floors with a balcony like we requested, but they did give us a first floor room, concierge level. So in the end we were happy and satisfied with our room. But the whole thing was crazy.

I know that they will do everything they can to get your the room you requested.

In January of 2010 at Pop Century we made two requests: 1) a king bed and 2) to be away from a pool on an upper floor. We were given double beds, ground level, facing the pool. Not a huge problem, but disappointed.

On our honeymoon at the Yacht Club we requested a king size bed and were upgraded to concierge level with double beds. Okay!

This past trip we made no requests at the AKL. We figured none of our requests had ever been granted so we'll just see what we get with a standard room & standard view. We were upgraded to king size bed savanna view.

First time no requests - first time getting the king bed, go figure.

On our last trip this past February, we stayed at Coronado Springs and requested Casitas, building 3. We ended up in the Ranchos, much further away from the main building. We did, however, get the adjoining rooms we requested. I have heard that requests at that hotel often are not honored if a convention or two are booked at the same time as your stay.

This year we not only got top floor at WL (not concierge but top normal floor) as we requested, but they put my mom's room right next to ours, even though we checked in 4 days apart! I couldn't believe they actually were able to accommodate that one!

We've lucked out a couple of times with great rooms when we didn't put in a request. When we've made requests, we've gotten something completely different (and worse).

Your honeymoon made me think of ours. We went down there for ours as well, and we thought we requested a King sized bed, and ended up getting two doubles....poor husband who is 6'3...it was the funniest sight. We would have seen if we could change it but you know looking back, it made us laugh the entire vacation.....so I am glad to see someone gets upgraded every now and then.

I keep my requests pretty basic as well and they have always been met in the past. On a rare occasion that they are not, I just kindly ask during check in to me moved and have never had an issue.

There are very few king bed rooms - and those that are, are usually handicapped accessible.

The only way you can guarantee one is to stay at a moderate resort and pay for that room type - but that precludes you from any other room type or view.

Same thing with us. We usually get our requests filled, but then again, we typically go at non-busy times of the year.

For our trip in August, I requested a room near a parking lot at CBR. The cast member said "Excuse me?? Near a PARKING LOT?? I've never had that request before!". So I'm thinking we'll probably get it--who asks for a parking lot view? LOL! It's just so we can park near our room so when we drive to the hotel in the evening after a long day in the park, my tired Mom won't have to hike a mile to our room!

At the Poly we always request a specific building, which is close to the parking lot. When we stay at POFQ, we always ask for building 4, ground floor, parking lot view. For the same reason, car access.

:ROFLOL: It makes sense. I won't be having a car so I guess I'll pass on the parking lot requests for now. Hopefully you get it.
