But Lasseter isn't superman (or should I say Spiderman?) and he can't be in all places at all times. But it certainly is great that he is there ... Iger? Well, I'm not at all sold on him ... and cutting ________ Cook as coldly as he did certainly cost him in my book (and many in the industry far more important).

So you are also of the opinion that Cook's departure was less than voluntary?

Cook was fired. Flat out.

I spent much of Emmy week with industry folks and they were largely shocked by it. Iger doesn't have many fans with them.

Cook, and he had his shortcomings, was almost universally loved by people in the business, and that's really amazing to say. Not to mention the man lived and breathed Disney for almost four decades.

I absolutely think Iger screwed this one up and did so badly ... and the worst thing is whoever replaces Cook (and I have a sick feeling we're looking at Rich Ross) will take all the credit when Disney unloads what likely will be a slate of big hits in the next 2-3 years. ... All projects that were pushed through by Cook.

G-Force.... Chihuahua... Bedtime Stories...

There were flops. Maybe not with gross, but it's still embarassing.

Funny how both those things came from the same Pavilion. Imagine a modern JII with a Capt EO tribute. I would die.

Well I had to wait 10 years for a Star Tours II announcement (Bill Clinton was President when I first heard about it) so based on that you got approximetly...*looks at watch*....8 more years to go.

The "free day's admission for volunteer" rumor is true! I just saw a commercial with Miss Piggy for it!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FI2gvsUbUk

Sorry for the horrible recording. I had just read this rumor about it and then was surprised to see a commercial about tonight. It was on around 12:40am EDT on HGTV. I'm sure there will be better quality versions available soon but this was me pointing my digital camera at my LCD just to get proof to share. The fine print says you must register with an approved charity, that it's limited to one day and that you must be at least age 6 to participate. They say to go to DisneyParks.com but there's nothing obvious there yet. The voice over says "starting January."

Thanks! I'm just sitting here on my pc in the master bedroom when I hear the Lady and the Tramp music so I go out, rewind to see what it was. Imagine my surprise!

have you watched Bedtime stories?
I didnt thik it was that bad

Bedtime Stories did OK, considerning the time of year it was released... But remember, movies these days in general are down, and studios look at the post-theater dollars as much as the box office grosses. Look at Star Trek- a success at the box office, but Paramount considers the box office dollars "gravy" to the eventual dollars they'll make off DVD sales, on-demand cable sales, and the inevitable "Special Edition" dvd releases... that's were the dollars are...

That was awesome to see. Interesting to see how it was for a promo for next year, but still ended with this years promo tagline. I'm guessing they need to start soon so that people can do their community service to be eligible for January?
