Only problem with announcing The Second Coming then as opposed to having done it at D23 is that it's less likely to be a huge spectacle of an announcement. No glorious "Dreamfinder and Figment rising from the mist on the Dreamcatcher to tell a huge crowd they're back."

I don't think any of the three parks got anything on the scale of a new Soarin' film or a new Imagination, just shows or parades. That was also marketed as a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the entire Walt Disney World property, much like Disneyland's 50th was also celebrated as the anniversary of the Disney theme parks as a whole. I could understand maybe some attention for the Magic Kingdom on one of its smaller anniversaries like this, but probably not. This isn't like Disneyland where you can easily justify an anniversary promotion every five years because of the number of people it will attract.
And fireworks.

Honestly, if that's what they do while building FL and it brings things to DAK, EPCOT and MGM, and acknowledges the 40th, I'm fine.
I dont expect any of this but I can hope and dream and be dissapointed when they dont announce anything.

Besides a redo Of JII will probaly just involve making Figment birthday cards anyway.
Don't be so cynical!

I have confidence in them for this project.

Any Magic Kingdom anniversary can be marketed as the same anniversary for WDW as a whole, if the Disney ad wizards choose to exploit that angle.
They did, they can, they should. :D

 It's a religious event!

That's why I don't expect it now. I expect it in a year or so.

Yea I am hopeful as well even but part of me thinks that the refurb to JII will be minor. I just have a bad feeling about this one, man I wish Martin would spill the beans on this one.

They may have a D23 next year after all and announce EPCOT stuff then and following year AK the next DHS then DL etc. Perhaps following a "announcemet 2 years before the new addtions" idea so it will be ready for anniversarys.....

This years D23 was 2 years before MK anniversary after all..........

EDIT: 30th POST !!!!!!!!!!!

Traditionally there has been a press conference on or around October 1.

I think a major announcement would be unlikely based on D23, not price increases in August.

Disney probably doesn't want to do anything to draw attention to price increases.

When is the last time this actually happened? I could have sworn there hasn't been an October 1 press conference in the last 3 years or so. There was a bunch of talk last year about there being one, but instead it was some Miley Cyrus thing (at DLR, too, if I recall correctly).

You know, you got me. I was trying to remember and I think there was just a press release last year.

A whole new ride in place of WoL.... why redo an attraction when you have dead space?

I was watching a real cool movie a few days ago.. It would be a great idea for an attraction in Epcot. This team of doctors was miniaturized and then injected into a human and had lots aof adventures inside the human while trying to cure a disease. I think that would make an excellent attraction in Epcot, you know, science and technology and all. Maybe one of the health insurance companies, that make billions of dollars a month, could sponsor it.

What do you think?
