So that was it, huh? Cool. The Summer to Remember that the Universal exit is to the left when on I-4 eastbound.

I don't think anyone who follows these things closely expected anything. Whenever there is an event of some kind people tend to get over-excited.

I definetly agree that the norm has been to not expect anything. Who doesn't long for the days of exciting announcements and Disney overdelivering though? However, I agree. Most at this point recognize that is not Disney's strategy anymore.

Yep. That has actually been all over local news. Its huge here. Disney's media event this morning? Not even a mention. Orlando press has gotten wise to the overhyped press event too...

All the other theme park bloggers seem to be at TurtleTrek while the, as 74 puts it, the Disney Lifestylers were at Disney, with free rooms, free Illuminations Dessert cruise last night, etc...

Honestly? It's disappointing. There's no way around that for me. Other resorts are doing the tough work and decisions, both creatively and financially to better their product. They deserve an enormous amount of praise for that.

I guess "Summer to Remember" has a better ring to it than "Summer of Construction on a Kiddie Coaster that won't be Done Till 2014."

Indeed. It's so sad, almost annoying, that this none event was just a feeble PR spin attempt to distract attention away from Seaworlds new Turtle Trek which opened today, and Universals new day and night entertainment this summer. And also to distract attention away from the fact that WDW has nothing new to offer this summer, entertainment or otherwise.

BTM doesn't count - what should be routine refurb that couldn't be put off any longer.

Test Track is a long overdue sponsor funded update, the sort that would happen ever decade or so as the norm in the past (Ellen, Imagination I'm looking at you)

Spectro was scrapped. As was a new MK night show. Let's not go over new Fanland again and it's flawed reasoning.

Studios may get a five minute walk through. Woo. Things are bad when the PR department has to produce a video of a new restaurant and flog it as something to come back to see. I'm sure it'll be very nice, and reminiscent of the planned one from DLP circa 1992, but it ain't an E Ticket. Or D. Or C.

Bottom line - more PR and internet spin trying to hide in vain a big nothing.

And let's not forget what Disney HAS decided to put over a billion dollars of capital into - asystem that is sure to make your trip more complicated and structured for their conveninece, as well as their marketing and advertising purposes. I suppose we are supposed to be thrilled about that for them..

Ah, it makes sense now. They missed such a good opportunity to announce something new, something to actually make it a "summer to remember" I guess it seems weird to me that they set up these big media events and always talk about the Fantasyland expansion and go over the same details, only revealing a few more photos and videos here and there.

Why go through all this trouble when they could have easily just posted the official FLE opening dates and Test Track art on the blog (which they already did).

I prefer the corps-has a nice ring to it.

Don't forget about the merch previews. Half those unemployed bloggers probably supplement their income in that stuff, yay Duffy vinyls!

I wouldn't define the local coverage as "huge"... it's a perception I guess, but yeah.. not 'huge'... it's one attraction, and it's old tech...

Now, when the arctic attraction at seaworld opens.. That'll be 'huge'
