I was there about May 15 opening year. I have a ton of photos, and I'll be posting them on my blog on May 1. Photos of Pleasure Island back then, too.

Post them (or links) here. Would like to see them. Do you remember your overall impression at the time?

I would love to see all the New Mickey Mouse Club Cast that were there during the studio filming years make a return......Although I'm pretty sure a few big names wouldn't be there..

Maybe they will announce new plans for the park on the anniversary.
I highly doubt it.

I am going by how WDW theme park anniversaries have been handled by Disney for WDW since Bob Iger became the CEO of the Disney company with Meg/George being in charge of WDW.

When Epcot was 25 years old, there wasn't any new plans for the park announced or when Epcot Turned 30. There wasn't any new plans announced for DHS when it turned 20 years old. Disney saved the Star Tours: the Adventure Continues for the D23 expo.

When WDW turned turned 40 in 2011, there wasn't any new plans announced for WDW either. When AK turned 10 and 15 years old, there was no new plans for AK announced. Burbank kept the plans for Avatarland a secret before the 2013 Tokyo D23 despite the 2012 Avatarland attractions was leaked out in late 2012. That meant the 15th anniversary of AK had no information mentioned on the upcoming Avatarland that was first announced on their blog in late September of 2011.

When you could expect on the Day of DHS turning 25 is merchandise, cupcakes, and maybe a ceremony.

Honestly, DHS used to be a really great park and the behind the scenes of movie making was really cool. It's a shame in the last eight or ten years the park has seemed to lost it's identity. It used to be very clear, one half of the park was the classic Hollywood that never was and always will be, the other half was a look into how the movies are made.

25 years already!? WOW! I wasn't there on opening day, but when I finally went I remember how it 'USE TO BE'! I remember a WORKING studio park, the way the backstory was intended. I remember walking through and seeing different TV shows being taped for TV...that was what drew people to the park(I think) I think the guests wanted a backstage, behind-the-scenes look at TV shows and the like when they went! Since then many bad changes have forced this park to NOT EVEN BE A HALF DAY PARK!!!! I could do this park in about 3 hours, just hitting the main attractions, worth hitting!
My take on this park would definitely do a DCA rehab of the entire park to be SIMILAR to DCA. same backstory...1920's Hollywood when Walt arrived, Red Car Trolley, World of Color(replacing Fantasmic or adding to)
Redesign the GMR façade into the Carthay Theatre façade with updated movie ride, add, CARSland, Start Wars land, and add the working studio aspect of the park once again! I would definitely go to DHS then, even for 1/2 day!

Seems to be a recurring trend with WDW's non-MK parks. First it was EPCOT in the '90s, the Studios in the '00s -hopefully Avatar doesn't signal the same pattern for Animal Kingdom in the '10s.

DHS needs its own things, not clones from DCA. Also, DCA's Buena Vista Street storyline wouldn't really work for DHS.

Exactly, and the front half of the park BAH aside, work really well already. In fact a lot of Buena Vista St borrowed several elements and styles of DHS's Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards. It's just the backhalf of the park that needs desperate help.

It doesn't exactly work at DCA either, in my opinion. I know I am in the minority here, but I feel that DCA lost a lot of its character when they scraped the beautiful mosaic at the entrance, the giant CALIFORNIA letters, and the fountain at the end of the entry street. I also liked the original sun ferris wheel much better than a stupid giant Mickey head. I also miss Pizza Ooo Mow Mow. It was a unique dining venue. Most importantly, I miss the carnival beach music of Paradise Pier. I could literally spend a full day at Paradise Pier listening to the music. I do like the swings update and Mulholland Madness update. I still don't understand taking the Maliboomer out though???

But, adding ToT made it a complete park. Monsters Inc was another great add, and Carsland is equal to or greater than Potterland.

I do wish World of Color just ran on a continuous loop instead of stand alone shows. Seriously, how much would it cost to just keep it going? It would really cut down on the labor for crowd control. It would also allow for more merchandise and/or food/drink sales at the show. I don't get packing people in there for 75 minutes of misery.

They could roll shows over and over and over. Seems like a no brainer to me. It would also help with crowd flow.
