Disney's Hollywood Studios 25th Anniversary?

I think a better way to celebrate is to imagine what could have been with the original plan for Sunset Boulevard with Dick Tracy Crime Stoppers and Muppet Studios at the other side of the park. That would have been one solid E-ticket quality park!

I think had this theme park been more of a theme park there would be a lot of hype for the 25th. I don't think they care for the history at all. It's as if they want to distance themselves from theis park's past.

If you're replying to what I said, I meant for us, not for them.

There are a couple of events for cast, including a cast only American Idol show, and a chance to ride Rock n Roller with the lights on.

I don't know of anything yet for guests. Although following the now popular anniversary playbook, I am sure there will be cupcakes, a commemorative map, a chance to buy merchandise, and VP speech at the park opening.
I actually will be partaking in the RnR event for Studios Cast.

why would you want to ride RnR with the lights on?

Hollywood Studios really needs a DCA style makeover... rethink what is there, create some expansion and turn it into a solid One Day experience... It is currently such a mish-mash of stuff I generally avoid it completely. There are not enough attractions so the ones that they have are completely overcrowded...The studios tour is just a ghost of itself and not worth wasting time on...The Great Movie Ride needs a kick out of the 80s and into the 21st century... All in all... Needs a lot of things...Would be nice if they were announcing that for the 25th

I was at Opening Day for Disney's MGM Studios back in 1989. I was 10 years old at the time.

I will be at the 25th Anniversary on May 1st. I had no idea it was the Anniversary when I booked it.

Wish I had kept something from the opening day. Not so much!

While I wasn't there on opening day, I was there a few months later. I remember the park being at capacity that July, and we had to come back the next day (the lot was full, but resort buses were allowed in - we stayed at the Poly). I remember waiting in lots of huge lines for the very few attractions there were (5?) but I do remember having fun. Great Movie ride, the extended backlot tour, and Animation were all quite impressive for their day.

While in no way would I say it was a "complete" park, at the time it certainly was exciting, and new, and did actually feel different from MK / Epcot. The Hollywood "behind the scenes" aspect was a novelty but it certain won me over. The concept just worked.

It is so sad to see how far things have fallen. Those original attractions have either been bastardized (animation, backlot tour), or simply left to rot (GMR). The subsequent additions in the few years after opening were great (Muppets, BatB and Mermaid Shows, ToT) but again, then what? I would argue that ToT is the only "timeless" attraction in the park.

What exactly is there to celebrate at 25 when the park has been all but neglected in recent years?

The Earful Tower needs to be moved to the front of the park like at Walt Disney Studios Paris, since you can't even see it any more at DHS since the hat was built and got in the way.
