It's that time again!! DisneyPrincess5's 4/30-5/8 Pre Trip Report!

Hi all!

Welcome to our April 30-May 8 Pre-Trip report!! It seems like yesterday our countdown was in the 200s but the time is almost here finally! I'm screeching with excitement!!

The travelers:

Liz (Me, 24)

Parent Educator, dog lover, Yankee Fan, and Disney is pretty much my life!! Some of my favorite attractions are Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Carousel of Progress, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (can’t wait to see the new queue!!), Toy Story Mania and Spaceship Earth.

Ryan (My boyfriend, 29)

Market Researcher, baseball player, also a HUGE Yankee and Disney fan!! Some of his faves include Rock n Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Spaceship Earth, Mickey’s Philharmagic, Toy Story Mania, and the Haunted Mansion.

Ahh the magic of Disney! We love it all-the music, movies, merchandise, promo videos, TV specials, and of course the World itself! Please meet Mickey and Minnie who live on our dresser:

We have a little bit of Disney magic in all rooms of our home and all aspects of our life. Just thinking about it makes us smile from ear to ear! With 56 days to go until the trip, we couldn’t be more thrilled!
Our past trips have been in January so May is new for us! We can’t wait to experience Disney at this time of year. We have THE BEST time-so much fun, many laughs and great memories and stories. We plan our trips like a year in advance so we always have it to look forward to!

Ok let’s discuss January…
Anyone who was there during that time last year probably knows why we are not returning in January. It was FAH-REEZING cold almost every day of our trip-something we were not exactly expecting! Seriously-what was up with that? We still had a great trip, but it definitely took something away from the fun while bundled up in winter coats, gloves, hats and scarves in central Florida, darting from one attraction to the next! We vowed to always go when it is a guarantee it will be warm from now on so we chose May! We usually stay at the Polynesian but our jaws hit the floor (I think I’m just getting over it) when we were told how much it would be to bunk there so we’re trying something different!

We live in southern Connecticut and had a brutal winter (like 2 feet of snow in a 3 week period!!) so knowing we’d be in Disney when it is warm seriously helped us through! Again, we have never been at this time before and are so excited to experience Disney in May and also to check out the Flower and Garden Festival! I love topiaries! The more photos I see and things I read about it are making me more excited!

Also as you know, Splash Mountain shuts down almost every January for an annual rehab so we have missed it on both of our trips! What the frig! We are soooo looking forward to riding it ohh lets say about a half a million times on this trip and check out the lap bars for ourselves. Um and just in case you see us on the news, Ryan said he was going to do something very bad to Mickey if Splash is closed or down during our trip…

Ok ok ok the trip:

Where:
The beautiful Dolphin Resort! Now- like I said, we usually stay at the Poly and yes, ok WE’RE SPOILED!! The theming is heavenly and we’re in love with the monorail-check out my signature! That narration makes me so happy. But we got an AWESOME deal at the Dolphin and although we know it is technically not a Disney resort, it is to us and the area is freaking awesome, not to mention that the resort is gorgeous. I stayed there long ago but this is a first for Ryan. Ahh I love that walk to Epcot along both the Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Club sides. Ryan’s favorite park is DHS so being right next door is fun.

The Plan:
We will be vacationing from Saturday 4/30 to Sunday 5/8 and we’re taking JetBlue. Our airport just opened a JetBlue terminal this past November so we wanted to give it a try! They've already changed our flight departure time once, only by a few minutes, but lets hope that doesnt happen again!

We're doing the Around the World On a Segway Tour at Epcot again, which we are SUPER excited about! Again, if you see us on the news about a Segway going ‘missing’ at Disney, it was Ryan!! We did this tour last trip and loved it so much despite the cold that we must do a re-do!

We park hop a lot-like A LOT, and always try to do at least morning EMH-sometimes we’re too drained to do the night EMH but we’re going to try!

We plan to visit Typhoon Lagoon which I haven’t been to in maaaany years and Ryan has never been at all-yay!

We’re going to squeeeeze in some time to go to DTD as well-haven’t been there in forever either!

We're praying for a soft opening of Star Tours!!

Also, we will be visiting Universal for a day to ride some old faves and check out Harry Potter!

Our traditions are to always visit the Magic Kingdom first and make Space Mountain our first ride of the trip and to eat at San Angel Inn at Mexico.

Dining Reservations:
Ohana dinner (A first for the both of us!!)
San Angel Inn lunch
Boma dinner
Chefs de France dinner
Crystal Palace lunch
Biergerten early dinner (Another first!)

And a side note-
I’m in the (EXTREMELY PAINFUL) process of having a tattoo removed on my left shoulder. While I’m receiving treatments, I cannot expose the tattoo to any natural or artificial sunlight so come time for our trip report, you may see me wearing a bandaid on that area. So while it would make for a cool story, no one cut me to get ahead of us on Toy Story Mania or at Cosmic Rays- the bandage is protecting the tattoo from the oh so powerful Florida sun :)

Thanks for reading everyone, and look for our Trip Report in May!

**Oh and today for my birthday, Ryan got us tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway in a few weeks!!! What an exciting prelude to our trip!! :sohappy:

I can just feel your excitement for this trip. As so many others have mentioned, you are going to LOVE May! It's a great time of year to go. We stayed at the Swan once and loved it, so I'm thinking the Dolphin will be great.

I think we tour the parks in a very similar fashion... we're constantly park hopping and always fitting in early EMH, but sometimes we just don't make it for the extra magic hours at night. There's just something about that extra hour in the morning that really does add some magic to the parks.

I hope you have fun. And I'll keep my fingers crossed that Splash Mountain is up and running for your sake and Mickey's!

 Is it that palpable? Excited isn't even the word-I shreek when I think about the trip which is 24/7!! Haha yes thank you-MK will have to run for cover if Splash is defective.

I'm excited to read your honeymoon report! Congrats on your upcoming big day!!

Thank you! Omg we cannot wait to be there in May-so glad you enjoyed it!! Yay for your upcoming trip too! Where are you staying? I will definitely have our Trip Report posted by before you go!

We are staying at POP century. Not really anything exciting but we stayed at POP the past 3 times and loved it. We are commando/park hopping/EMH utilizing park goers so we really only use the resort for sleep and maybe a dip in the pool here and there...so POP works well for us. And our budget, which is tiny since my boyfriend is in med school. His rotations start in June and we may not get back to the World next year (or the year after:cry:) so I'm going to be even more commando than usual...if that's possible.

So excited you will have your TR done before I depart. I'm going to hold you to that! Now I can look forward to your TR being a great start to my vacation! Can't wait!

:ROFLOL:It definitely must be a Pittsburgh thing. I mean, it's so hot in Florida...can you blame us? It's only a problem when Bill wears his short white shorts and goes on Splash Mountain or Kali River. But other than that it just makes sense.

There is no better way to leave a sweaty but crack imprint on a Disney bus seat when they get up!

Don't even act like I'm the only one who has seen this!

We need time for things to happen.
You're going to LOVE..

MAY!!

Good to see we'll have more folks representing CT AKA the "CUT" in WDW this May!

The Fam and I have been doing the first week of May for the last 5 years and have gotten 80 degree average temps - cool in the shade and
a total of 2 hours of rain in 40 days of vacationing.

You'll miss the POLY a little but the Dolphin is beautiful and you're at WDW so who cares! :king:

LOVE The pre-trip report! You've got me pumped!

I'll wave Hi if I see you guys and promise not to bump!

Have fun!

May's nice! We went the 18th-24th in 2009...it was rainy at times but the temperature was perfect.

I'm looking forward to your review of the Dolphin...the location is awesome! Can't wait for your report!

I've been going the first week of May for oh, about the past fifteen years to celebrate our wedding anniversary! (Except for last year, when we moved the trip back a couple of weeks so that our annual passes would cover this year's anniversary trip.)

The weather's always been perfect, and it's not overly crowded.

Maybe we'll see you there...

You can even got out the ribs pads, then cut to circles in the front and put the pads over the circles and you know have a FOR REAL padded bra! Or you can cut two circles out and wear a bikini top everywhere.

Seriously dude I am sooooo money right now.

LOL!! Where on earth do you come up with this stuff?:lol:

Ok so Liz, nice to meet you officially!! I appreciate all the love you showed my TR!! I'm soooo glad to read about your trip! It sounds just awesome, I loved how you started it! I love the "little bit of Disney magic in every room" concept, I do a little bit of that too...but I could probably try harder in this area.

May is an awesome time to visit!! We visited then once, I think it was my favorite trip because the weather was so perfect!

I can't wait to read about the Dolphin, I've never even gone inside those resorts! Take lots of pictures, ok?

I like your tradition to visit the MK first, that will definitely be our goal from now on!!!

Can't wait for the trip, here's hoping the next month or two flies by!

We're super pumped for the May weather-heard nothing but positives.
I'll post A TON of photos as usual on my TRs but I'll make sure to take many of the Dolphin!! It's beautiful, like it'll make you want to stay there.

Not visiting MK first for us is like a birthday with no cake-it's just a no no!

I'm excited to read about your trip. I was down there with my family just before you last January, and yes, it was way too cold! I normally love going in January since the weather is so mild, but it was just too much. So, we are going in May next year. I haven't gone in May in about 8 years, and I don't remember much about that time of the year. So, I can't wait to read about your experience during this time of the year.

Also, I am really looking forward to your pictures and review of the Dolphin. I may be able to get a discount there for our trip next year. I love that area too, so if the resort is nice it may be at the top of my list for places to stay.

Thank you! Ooo Another January to May convert-welcome to the club!

Yes I promise to take a lot of photos. We got an excellent rate and you can add great discounts to that based on your profession so hopefully you can get a nice discount too! The area is wonderful and the resort is beautiful-I know you'll love it! I'll report all about it.

And we're going to draw Disney pictures starting at our 30 day countdown like you suggested-we're such terrible artists, it'll be hysterical!

 That's half the fun of it! It's amazing how my pictures of Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Everest all looked the same, just labeled differently. It is a fun way to get through your last 30 days! I hope you two find it as fun as I do.
