Day 5
20th August 2013
We were up early again today for a trip to animal kingdom, we were a bit disappointed that they no longer did the opening show but oh well, when we got in we headed straight for Kilimanjaro safaris so we could catch the animals before it got to hot. A lot of animals were out but it is always hard to get any good pictures on the ride.
After this we got breakfast from the quick service counter next to Tusker House, Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery. I had a croissant and Dana had a blueberry muffin. After this we went and got fast passes for Exhibition Everest before heading to see Flights of Wonder.
I quite liked this show but this is where the day went wrong. After the show Dana said she felt really hot and needed to lay down, no longer then a second after she said she had to get somewhere cooler so she tried to exit the theatre but fainted on the way out. I earned some major brownie points when I put her in the recovery position while we waited for the paramedics, by the time they had turned up Dana was ok again. They said they thought it was dehydration and sent us on our way, Dana wasn’t happy about the wheel chair they gave us and I was just plain dangerous driving it. We went to the first aid area and cooled off with a few bottles of water for around a hour. We tried to leave the park but Dana wasn’t well again but after that we finally managed to get back to the hotel. Dana kept on drinking water but this didn’t seem to help, she just couldn’t keep it down. I was starting to think of a trip to the hospital at this point when a packet of cheetos came to the rescue, she started off by just having a few with some water then built on that. A few hours later she was as good as fixed but just with a few cuts and grazes. We think it can only be food poisoning as she was unable to even keep down water but we will never know and at least we only lost that one day and not a lot longer so were lucky in a way. I would like to just say a big thank you to everyone who helped us that day at the park as it made all the difference. By 5pm Dana was starting to feel normal and insisted we didn’t miss our dining reservations at Akershus that night so we went off to Epcot around 5.30. We rode Spaceship Earth as we walked in to the park because we knew that it was closing for a refurbishment and wanted to make sure we went on it. Then it was time for our meal so we headed to Norway and to Akershus getting a Magic Shot on the way.
(by the look of the pictures you cant tell that I (Dana) was unwell at all, but it was the worst I have ever felt, I am sure it was the pizza from mama Melrose the night before)
We got a small plate each from the buffet for a starter
then I had the Traditional Kjottkake and Dana had the Grilled Pork Tenderloin. Both of these were amazing.
Out of the desserts we didn’t have the Rice Cream and shared the Apple Cake and the Chocolate Mousse.
After we had finished we headed over to the Epcot Preferred Fireworks Viewing area, it was only us and another few people, it was amazing, we just sat on the floor at the edge and watched it in comfort through the railings. I had learnt by my first attempt of fireworks photos and used a sturdier support for my camera (still no tripod). We both enjoyed the show, we personally prefer wishes but this was still really cool.
Epcot was open until 11pm that night so we walked on some of the quieter attractions after illuminations. We rode The Seas With Nemo and Friends, followed by Turtle Talk with Crush.
Then we went and rode Journey into Imagination with Figment.
This was so cool and the song was really funny catchy and annoying at the same time. We then looked around Imageworks followed by watching Captain EO. We both found Captain EO long and dull but some people love it. It was now just gone 11pm so time to slowly wander back to get the bus home. It turned out to be quite a good end to a day which could have been so bad.
Thank you for reading
