News Disneyland to give Tarzan’s Treehouse a new theme

Figments Friend

Imagine what it would have been like if they’d made her as a proper animatronic!
That was the original plan for the original Tarzan’s Treehouse in CA according to Tony Baxter, but budget cuts foiled those plans.

The ‘statues’ were used as placeholders in the hope that at a later time they could be replaced with outdoor-friendly moving AA figures.

Sadly never happened.

after the new ToonTown with MMRR, Treehouse retheme and then the Splash retheme, they need to focus more on CA and get the Avengers E Ticket and Hollywoodland expansion going

Imagine if they brought back Cascade Peak when they redid the River. Should have used some of that Star Wars money.

Okay, but it would need to be a dramatically upgraded version of Cascade Peak.

Cascade Peak was added in 1960, just after they did the Matterhorn. It was obvious that WDI was still learning how to make rocks and mountains, because Cascade Peak was a tad.... awkward looking.

A mountainous hillside with cascading waterfalls is a good thing. And redoing Cascade Peak with modern Imagineering talents and standards would be a good thing. But just recreating Cascade Peak exactly as it was from 1960 to 1998 would not work for today's audiences.

Cascade Peak as built in 1960 was pretty hokey looking, to be honest. It just sort of screams "20th Century Theme Park Fake Waterfall!"

It appears the scaffolding has started to come down around the treehouse -

So... it's still the same treehouse. Okay.

But without Tarzan? Because the Robinson family from Switzerland moved back in, inspired by Walt Disney? Or inspired by Walt Disney's Swiss Family Robinson? Or inspired by Walt Disney's Adventureland where the Robinson family now lives?

Can we get a WDI intern to clarify this backstory for us and tell us how a wealthy Latina made it all possible? Because I'm confused.

Aside from a couple of nice watches I often wear out to dinner or a party, I have no personal connection to Switzerland.

But if there isn't a Swiss flag flying from this immersive treehouse experience, I'm going to be mad. And I don't know why.

For me the most important part is Swissapolka.

Adventureland with Swissapolka >> Adventureland without Swissapolka.

Oh, gosh, you're right! That was such a fun little detail, that's like an old commercial jingle you still remember decades later.

Okay, add that to the list too.

Went to the park yesterday. Scrims are (mostly) down, though clearly quite a bit of work remains (didn't see the water wheel, the tree itself is visibly unfinished, etc.). But IMO it looks fantastic. Regardless of whatever theming this ends up having, I'm just so relieved the treehouse survived the Chapek era and is receiving some TLC.
