Disneyland officially reopening April 30th

I won’t mention what a day (open 9-5) at Animal Kingdom costs...
I've been there, I know BUT I've been pretty happy every visit there. It's very much like DCA with regards to sparse attractions but I never run out of things to do there partially because I love the scenery and animals which easily compliments the time I spend on attractions. It's become my wife's favorite Disney park.

I’ve found Disney to use the term “attraction” quite liberally.

65 attractions! DCA has a meager 30.
Yes, but it still doesn't change the fact that all rides at Disney Parks are called Attractions, and you know this as you aren't new here. It seems like you're trying to start an argument for some reason.

So to make you happy and end this argument before it starts. My opinion is that the majority of DLR RIDE ATTRACTIONS will be open on or around April 30th, with the Subs being the major exception.

For those looking for things related to Disneylands planned reopening next month:

Current trends are pointing to the county hitting the Orange Tier this coming Tuesday/Wednesday.

119 new cases and 14 deaths reported today with Hospitalizations down to 156 and only 25 in ICU. 35.2% of its ICU Capacity is available along with 73% of its ventilators

As of this past Friday, Case rate is at 3.2 and the positivity rate is at 1.8% with the health equity rate at 3.1%. At the current requirements it does meet the positivity rate requirement for Yellow. When the state reaches 4 million vaccinations in the hard hit areas, this updated data would put OC on track to get to Yellow faster with the case rate requirement for yellow upped to less than 2.0 instead of 1.0. Right now case rate for yellow has to be below 1.0.

This means that theme parks in CA if their county gets to the Orange Tier before they reopen can do so with up to 25% capacity. We did see last year when Disney reopened Shanghai Disneyland that they opted for a lower capacity than what the govt set. Likely Disney will do something similar and reopen initially with the red tier standard 15% capacity before upping it to 25% and eventually to 35% once the OC reaches yellow.

Now of course there's the discussion of the Easter and Spring Break season and how a surge might go but right now expectations are that the next potential surge won't be as big as the past surges given that vaccinations are now here. One Dr up in NorCal is even expecting "mini-surges" where he'll see patients in the dozens not thousands.

Now back to your daily "off-topic" discussions

Thanks for this info! For me, there's so many factors at play here - I'd love to go to the parks while they're still at 15% capacity (which I think they'll certainly do at least for the first few weeks, based on how they're struggling with the food festival right now), but if we'll hit Orange soon then they might not wait til the end of May to bump up the capacity, which is ideally when I'd like to go.

However, I don't know if they'll really get all the kinks ironed out if I go mid-May. (And this is assuming I'll go at all based on the abysmal virtual queue that'll no doubt be in place to get tickets first.)

Thought of you immediately on this one @TP2000 :D

I didn't watch this SNL sketch that apparently aired last night but as soon as I saw the character name, you were first in mind. :D

I didn't catch SNL last night either, I was at a social thing. But anything Maya Rudolph is in is fine by me! She's always hysterical.

Cece Vuvuzela. That would be an excellent drag queen name for someone, and I wish I'd thought of it before SNL! 🤣

Hell, I'm now claiming that as my drag queen name. But now I need to work on my act!

Curious what most people's estimates are on when CA will drop the residency requirement.

Sometime in the summer most likely. Thats also when we're expecting some overhaul or voiding the Blueprint all together. While its still months away and anything can still happen that could hinder reopening efforts, we do have a more positive outlook than we had last year.

If I was Disney, I'd wait until after summer, but as soon as is "safe" in the fall. As more people get vaccinated, cases go down, which means restrictions are lessened and capacity increases. Disney'll need to maximize profit, and out of state guests are pretty much guaranteed to spend more during their visit (in a resort sense) than the family from Whittier.

Mostly though, I think Disneyland is going to want need at least a couple months to work out the kinks in both their ticketing/reservation systems (assuming they also don't rollout a new non-AP AP plan also) and the parks in general that have sat dormant for more than a year.

Disney has no role in the CA-resident requirement. They don’t want it.

Exactly. They don’t want bad publicity. But everyone knows travel advisories are pointless between states. We don’t have borders like that.
I appreciate that is your opinion, however I disagree. The reason the restrictions are still in place in WDW is they understand they are still needed for now. Once they are no longer needed based on recommendations from the CDC they'll remove them from WDW. Which will also be the time when the restrictions in CA and DLR will be lifted as well.
