Disneyland officially reopening April 30th

As to shows, it says “live performances and shows.” I would not consider a 3D movie or the Tiki Room to be live entertainment. Frozen certainly is. Live entertainment has breathing actors, no?
DL: Dapper Dans (up at train station or on trolley). Possibly Disneyland band (marching, not stopping). Wishful thinking Bootstrappers (on raft on ROA) or Jambalaya Jazz Band isolated on upper level of the Mark Twain.

DCA: Five & Dime (can cavalcade on the jalopy). Possibly Mariachi Divas (on small stage outside Boudin bakery). Super wishful thinking a modified GOTG: Awesome Dance-Off (yeah, I don't know how that works without drawing a stationary crowd into a small area but I want it back!).

ETA: It's just too bad Disneyland doesn't have a massive open air theater with a show where virtually all of the performers can be physically distanced, that could seat hundreds of people separately on bleachers. Oh wait...
(I'm sure the small Royal Theater in Fantasy Faire will be used for distanced character appearances, but seriously, they need to get the Fantasyland Theater back up - if they cut down the dancer roles temporarily to distance them, the only performers I can think of off-hand in Mickey and the Magical Map who are close together are Rapunzel and Flynn and they could get the weekly testing. I know the show was 'canceled' but it can still be brought back if they wanted.)

If you question Sacramento you are questioning The Science. That's been made very clear for months now. Sacramento only dictates Guidance based on Science, so you may not question the Guidance or else you are questioning Science.

And I know you aren't Anti-Science. Right?

This is so perfect! Seriously, if you had told any of us 10 years ago that this is what the California state government would be dictating that Disneyland do to stay in operation we would have laughed you off the Internet. But here we are in 2021.
  • "Discourage audience from engaging in yelling, singing, chanting, booing, use of noise makers that require the exhalation of air (e.g. vuvuzelas)"
Vuvuzelas. I had to Google that, and I was kind of afraid of what I'd find. It wasn't as bad as I thought; it's just one of those corny stadium horns they used to sell at the Ringling Brothers circus in the 1970's. But now they have a fancy name. Who knew?

I feel so much safer now that there's Guidance about booing and vuvuzela use.

I'm going to try to use the word vuvuzela in sentences more. Standing in line chatting with housewives at Ralph's... "Did you hear Sacramento is sunsetting the use of vuvuzelas?" 🧐

You missed the 2010 World Cup craze?

Now that all the initial hoopla is out of the way regarding the updated guidelines. They will likely only be in place at DLR for a month or so anyways. By the time summer goes into full swing in June/July California will have likely have already started the transition back to normality. Meaning that DLR will at that time likely be able to go back to somewhat normal capacity with only minor requirements such as masks.

Apparently I did. I'm not a soccer fan. :(

I sat and thought about it, and they sold these things in the 1970's at the Ringling Brothers circus, but also at civic events like parades and hydroplane races. We didn't call them "vuvuzelas" back then, they were just... big plastic horns.

I thought the issue with live entertainment is that the performers are crammed into small backstage spaces, dressing rooms, etc. both before and during the show? Wasn't it mainly an issue with performer Social Distancing in the workplace rather than Social Distancing the audience out in the seats?

That’s what I thought, too. PhilharMagic is a 3D show less than 15 min long. What’s the problem? Again, I don’t question Frozen—it should be closed.

Just noting what performers are likely to be out that are comparable to what WDW has done.

Although WDW did allow the Frozen Sing-Along to come back which would be absolutely forbidden here (if we still had it) under the 'audiences may not sing in a CA theme park' rule.

Fair point though about the backstage issues for Map. I would think slightly less of an issue for smaller acts like the Dappers. Would also hope the Coke Corner pianist could return but they might have to rope off the piano to keep the audience from standing next to the piano and listening/watching as many of us often did.

I remember these god awful things from the 2010 World Cup tournament. Really made me miss the epic chants you hear at soccer games in Europe and South America.

Ah soccer. The rest of the world calls it Futbol, here in America we call it "a waste of time." You have to love soccer, the excitement of minimal contact, the thrill of low scoring, if you like watching paint dry in reverse, this sport is for you.

I watch soccer every four years. The World Cup games that Italy is playing in to be exact. So I haven’t watched soccer in 7 years. Minimal contact? Just curious, how do you feel about baseball?

Love baseball. very exciting game. I have never seen a boring baseball game. Ever. When you have a low scoring game and it's like the 7th or 8th inning you know you are watching an amazing pitchers duel. Battle of wills.

They say soccer is less exciting than American Football but I think that is really selling it short- it's also less exciting than baseball, basketball, golf, bowling, and mini golf, backgammon and yahtzee. Let's give it it's due.

I hated (watching) Baseball when I was younger but I started appreciating the game as I got older. The more you watch the game and understand the rules the more interesting it becomes. Still only watch Dodger playoff games for the most part. The only sport I’ve watched entire regular seasons and not a miss a game was basketball. There were seasons when I was younger that I literally didn’t miss a Laker game. These days I watch less and less regular season games due to kids and time constraints. Anyway, I’d argue that the majority of human beings across the planet probably fin soccer more fun to watch than baseball. There’s a whole lot standing around in baseball and it’s more of an acquired taste if you didn’t grow up with it. If you re turning on a baseball game for the first time, you re most likely changing the channel before anything exciting happens. Not a huge fan of watching Soccer either I guess. I’ve realized I’m more of a fan of competition in general and the World Cup is possibly the greatest and most exciting completion that involves the entire world that exists.

And those chants are almost ethereal sometimes.

Anyway, comparing it to bowling etc is just silly.

I tried to watch a soccer game once. I turned on the tv and put a game on and thought ' ok as soon as the players are done warming up they will start the game." But then I realized the game was already going on and I had been not watching warm ups like I originally thought but in fact had been watching actual soccer for 2 hours.

There goes the "dance parties" (thank goodness).

I was the exact opposite. I lived for baseball growing up. Couldn't play enough and had Dodgers season tickets (and I was a Pirates fan, not Dodgers). I continued playing slow pitch softball 5-7 days a week for about 10 years after baseball days ended. Now, it's next to impossible for me to sit through a whole game. I've always loved hockey but I think my transition away from baseball started when my girls started playing soccer some 16 years ago...I got so used to the pace of soccer, constant movement and action, that I really had a hard time with the much slower pace of baseball. Even as much as I loved the Lakers growing up, I can't relate to the players or the game anymore so that's fallen off my radar. Now, I pretty much gravitate to hockey and football as my go to sports. I can pretty much watch any hockey game, no matter what team is playing and I think it's absolutely the best spectator sport there is once you figure out the rules...which is probably why many people don't stick with it.

The first preshow could just leave doors open. Ick. No way to speed it up. Think fl has done that when it's been broken It's timed with the shuttle. The shuttle can be bypassed. Florida has a hallway built to do that. Sad I know. California doesn't have that hallway but they have a makeshift one just in case as a very last resort. And the final preshow is timed with the ride vehicles coming and going/doors opening and closing so that would have to stay.
Unless they consider the shuttle part of the attraction and not part of the queue.
