Disneyland Half Marathon

Hey All!

Just found this thread and I will be heading out to the DLR for the FIRST TIME EVER! To take part in the Half and claim my Coast to Coast, or what I call..."A Glorious 3 Hour Finale...to my WDW Half Marathon."

I'm nervous and excited at the same time to go out there, but I've heard the course is awesome and I am about as hopped up as Tigger on a sweet Spring day...get it, spring? ;)

Sweet Melissa! I've got my running partner!

Was going to treat myself to a DL resort this year. Everything is sold out except Grand California. Guess I'll be at the Holiday Inn again.

That's no fun. Yeah I've been looking for a place to stay. Any recommendations for close access to start areas and Expo?

Disneyland.com has a nice map of the Good Neighbor hotels and a link for booking. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites on Walnut, other side of the north parking garage. Maybe half a mile walk to registration and the start. There are still some places across the street I think. Check gettravel.com for discounts. They manage the runDisney travel for the DL races. They also have the ticket discount.

All of the Disney neighbor resorts have Anaheim Resort Transport. ART stops at the hotels. It's convenient and free for the weekend. Gettravel has ART passes if you're staying longer. I actually took the ART to the race from the Holiday Inn but I think the walk from the drop-off to the start was actually longer than the walk from the hotel. After the half last year I just walked to the hotel. There are some places south of the park on Katella that look closer. The start is near the Disneyland Hotel.

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely check out gettravel.com.

The bling! I dig it. Very colorful and fun. The Dumbo medal is pretty sweet, and I really love the retro look of the half medal.

How are you always the first to know this stuff?;)

Replace that 5K with a coast-to-coast for me :)
I never reveal my secrets... ;)

ETA: Actually, I take that back. Don't want you to think I'm some loser that sits in front of my computer refreshing the Disney Parks Blog all day. :D I'm subscribed to their RSS feed - I check my reader app once or twice a day, and I saw the blog post there. Normally I just mark their posts as read without actually reading them, but every once in awhile they actually post something I want to read!
Not a fan of the new medals. The Dumbo medal looks too childish to me and the 10k has too much going on.
I'd definitely say that the 10K is my least favorite - definitely busy like you said. I think the Dumbo medal is adorable though, and I HATE that movie (sooooo depressing).

Oh! And before I cancel my current hotel reservations (I made a couple depending on other people), I didnt know if anyone needed a room? I have one at Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites (Thursday to Tuesday) and one at the Fairfield Inn (same days). PM me for details if you need one so I can transfer it into your name or just coordinate when I am going to cancel so that you can pick up a room if needed! :D
