Disneyland Half Marathon

So I'm torn...

I'm signed up for the DDD and I'm super excited! I'm going with a dozen or so co-workers so my original plan was to take both of the races easy and just enjoy the race and maybe pace for some new half marathoners. However that changed when I looked at the half times for my age group (F 20-24)...

I have a chance that if I train hard and shave off some more time off my mile over the summer, I could age place in the race. I'm talking shaving 2-3 minutes off my finish time which I think is totally doable. So would you race it if you knew this was a possibility? I'm 24 so next year I would "age up" and the next age group is very competitive so this might be my chance to place in my age group for the foreseeable future.

So would you?

PS Also looking for good speedwork advice!

That would be amazing. Go for it! Maybe have fun at the 10K then do a serious half? Higdon has speed work in his advanced training plans, halhigdon.com. You can also find a lot of speed training articles on active.com. Good luck!

Anyone got an e-mail yet? We were supposed to get one early June. Sometimes we don't get one and it gets posted here.

Coming up on the 2-month mark and the silence is deafening. Maybe we'll get that 3-month e-mail after the holiday (That's Independence Day for our friends outside of the USA).

The silence is deafening but since so is my training I cant complain too bad...

Finally gave up the idea of road training and so its back to the treadmill for training (so much harder to find an excuse since 'its too hot' and 'its raining' has been my go to for almost 2 months now...)

I don't think I got an email until a month or 3 weeks before with final instructions for the marathon this past January. RunDisney has been seriously slacking on their communications lately. I heard through word of mouth that final instructions were on the website before getting the email.

Was 3 months a typo? Maybe they meant 3 weeks? :D

I like the 10k course. There appears to be right around 4 miles of park time.

It looks like a lot of fun but it's going to be slooowwww with all those park choke points. But that's OK since I'm doing the Dumbo. The 10K really is going to be a fun-run for me. Might even stop for pics. :) It is a timed run though.

The first e-mail is out. Nothing earth-shattering. The official pin looks nice.

Excited yet? We are! Because your 2013 Disneyland® Half Marathon Weekend will be here before you know it! And, as promised, we're back to share additional tips and information that will help make your weekend truly one to remember!

Be sure to look for your race number and waiver information in the next email we send you. You'll need to download your waiver and bring it with you to the Expo to receive your race number.

Ooh! I'm not a huge pin person...only get them for special events (races included), but I really like the pin.

I'm the same. I have all the race pins.

Wonder if the half marathon shirts will have the same logo as the commemorative pin, or similar theming?

That would make a nice shirt. Now if Champion could just come up with better material. I can't run in those things. Bad chafing.

Ive found there to be no 'normal' for RunDisney..

but esp since I havent heard rumblings the half course has changed from last year its odd that atleast that isnt posted.. I wonder if there is some drama over the 5k/10k courses which is why we havent seen anything yet..

I figure itll all come out in about 2 weeks when waivers will be posted...

The 10K course has been certified. They're probably just working on the art for release. I doubt they will change the half but I really have no idea.
