Disney World jabs in Shrek 4!

... the parks are not the best today.

And I'd argue that Shrek 3 is probably the worst animated movie ever.
Well luckily for you, you don't have to!

Here's a fine quote from David Ansen of Newsweek who will do the arguing for you:
David Ansen said:
Where the first "Shrek" left me elated, this one never touched my heart or got under my skin. It's a movie at war with itself: a kiddie movie that doesn't really want to be one. Why would little ones identify with Shrek's new panic about impending fatherhood? This is a very skillfully made corporate product, but I wonder who, exactly, will be fully satisfied.

Though I will admit he does say it's funny. But humor with no soul is like the History Channel without a WWII special. It's just wrong.

Look maybe you need to learn more about the parks. Learn to recognize all the trash cans (WASTE PLEASE), study the construction walls, teach yourself why the parks today are the best ever. Then you will be a true Disneyfan, whether you laugh at Shrek or not.

Good god man. Do you even have a life?? Disney fans(true fans or not) dont need to EVERY single small detail from the parks. That, and the parks now are NOT the best

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Wouldnt expect someone with a horizons avatar to think so.
I'm delighted at how you pick and choose which comments to argue against. Here you have a torrential wave of common sense and logic used against you, and you go and find the points that are convenient for you to combat and act like that's proving your point.
It's clear to me now that you have no reason or evidence to support your theory, and are an outright troll, who I won't be wasting my time arguing any more. Enjoy the ignore list, buddy.

If the 3rd one is crappy, why would you see the fourth one? It's like seeing The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and then seeing Jurassic Park 3. Why give these movie companies your hard earned cash to see a crappy sequel when the last sequel was, by your own admission, bad?
Hey whats with the Jurassic park 3 hate? I liked that one. I will agree lost world wasn't very good.

I have never liked Shrek, the movies are just not that funny to me. I don't really care that much that they poke fun at Disney in the movies. Its not even close to the reason I don't like them. The first time they made fun of Disney, it was kind of amusing. But then again and again... it just felt like they cant think of anything original, funny or creative for themselves. It just comes off to me as a big inferiority complex from dreamworks.

Obviously my avatar isn't Disney enough for you to bless me with a reply, then?

I would ignore him, but I'm just so darn nice I can't bring myself to do it.

Or it's because I always like to see it all: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Don't forget about the crazy, I like to see that too.

And Universal really doesn't make fun of Disney as much as everyone thinks.

A few years ago, Universal's ad campaign was entirely about mocking Disney. I remember radio commercials where kids would complain about how they are too old for princesses, and false/hypocritical statements about how Disney "closes early" and "never adds anything new."*

Even though Disney is ALWAYS open later than Universal and Islands of Adventure went 11 years before adding anything significant.

They have since backed down on the Disney bashing.

Though I love the fact that you completely went around my initial point, I dont quite understand how my Horizons avatar has anything to do with me liking how Disney is today. Horizons was about looking into what the future has in store for us if we try and believe that anything is possible. It was not about Stitch and Pixar

The commercial didn't say things about no new things, it was little kids who were tired of princesses and fairy tales. Universal was showing consumers that there was another option for those who wanted a more cutting-edge and modern experience.

Well for one thing they opened IoA as a full day park, as opposed to any park Disney has opened after their flagships. Also, if you consider a new land to be the only thing that is considered "major," then how long has it been since Disney opened something "major?" Besides, it's not like they were doing nothing. They were building out the Studios park.

Not to mention that every year they throw what is considered to be the best theme park haunt event, where everything they put in is either new or re-designed. Every year. 8 houses, 2-3 shows, and 6 scarezones, and they grow every year. Not to mention, they also listen to their fans, and do things for them (see: LegendaryTruth and Fright Yard). I think it would be nice if Disney treated us more like human beings and less like annoying flys.

Also, Universal isn't afraid to laugh at itself. The Horror Make Up Show is both informative and hilarious, and the Simpsons satirizes Disney, SeaWorld, and especially Universal. Heck, they make fun of theme parks as a whole, and I think that's hilarious.

You cannot like the Disney-hate jokes if you are a true Disney-fan. I'm sorry you're not a true fan. You probably dont even believe in Disney magic!!

There is more anti- IASM propoganda out of Disney than pro- IASW. You want to know why? Because they are confident enough in themselves to laugh at themselves. TRUTH!

There is a reason why non-Pixar Disney movies have failed for the past decade. They do NOT have the magic. Sure they fit the formula, but the consumer response is that they are not worth mor than half the ticket sales of Dreamworks movies. FACT!

Disney has been crapping their pants at the fact that the parks are 10x the marketing force of feature animation, and TRUE Disney fans should be sickened by that MUCH more than being upset at a green ogre!

If Disney was doing their job, they could be above any criticism. Too bad none of the Shrek or Dreamworks jokes are even criticisms. They are a friendly rivalry, and actually make Disney look pretty freaking squeeky clean - as evidenced by YOUR reaction. In reality, Disney purists should be glad that Dreamworks is working so hard to protect the Disney image.

You high horsed folks need to learn some perspective. Look beyond you self back patting selves. There is a great big beautiful world out there.

Wow so you are saying that because you own pieces of memorabilia, or you know where all the hidden Mickey's on the great movie ride are, and you can identify trash cans that you are a "Real Disney Fan".. Universal is not making more more than Disney Right now....Being a fan does not mean you cannot laugh at Disney jabs...I consider my self a Disney fan.... I even took a job to be closer to the "Magic".. I do not own opening day souvenirs, I cannot locate any hidden Mickey's, does that mean I cannot be considered a true Disney fan? Let me guess, you are the type of know it all guest that thinks they know more than the average guest...Its people like you who give people like us a bad reputation... Try not to take things so seriously... If jokes about a company bother you then I think you need to find a way to thicken your skin...

I agree totally. The jabs are becoming much more subtle, and are only there for Disney fans. Would the standard viewer catch either of the two in the original post. Absolutely not. They are silly. That is all.

I think your wrong Timmay. I am a real Disney fan and I have opening-day souvenirs from Epcot. I know what all of the windows on Main Street say. I know where all the Hidden MIckeys are on the Great Movie Ride. And I can tell you what all the trash cans look like in WDW. So I know what it means to be real Disney fan. If you laugh at Disney and make fun of Disney you cannot be a fan. This is why Universal is making more money than Disney now. because of jokes like in Shrek.

the parks are only a VERY small fraction of being a TRUE Disney fan. Do you whistle "I'll always be Irish" when walking through the mall? Do you even know what movie that was from? Do you own a Mouseketeer shirt? Can you name all the original Mouseketeers? Do you still Mousercise to your old copies of the show on VHS? Have you met any Disney Legends? Do you have any favorites? Do you have a Herbie antenna ball? How many Disney records do you play for your kids? For yourself? Have you been to Club 33?

See, all of us have a unique set of Disney fandom traits that set us apart from everybody else on this board. Personally, I am a Disney music nut. A few notes from a Disney song in a movie or on a ride thrill me like nothing else. We won the Disney music contest at All-Star Music last trip and only missed the Cheatah Girls song. Guess what, we still tied another family because they didn't know the song from Pete's Dragon. Which family has better Disney fans ? Neither. We were just happy to be there.

Doogle. There is no argument to that.

I heard the original version, Magic Roundabout, is decent though. Problem was when it was brought to the US, they got rid of almost all the original British VAs (only keeping Ian McKellen) and replaced them with celebrities in an attempt to cash-in.

Servo, you never answered the question about Dragon.
It's definitely worth a look and between it, Panda and the upcoming Guardians of Childhood, they're working towards making actually good stuff that doesn't rely on the popculture/fart joke formula of a lot of their other stuff.
