I don't think give a day get a day is at the expense of Disney's marketing campaign for 2010. This movie would have been in production long before any leaks on the current Disney marketing campaign. That, and to dig on marketing, isn't funny. Nemo looking for his dad in Flushed Away, funny.
And let's be honest, the entire Shrek franchise is a dig on Disney. It has ALL ofo their characters in it from the land of fantasy. They don't try to hide it. It's the premise of the first film "fair tale.... things" of which most are Disney's.
So, the castle being similar to a Disney castle is no longshot either, there aren't many (any?) other recognizable fairy tale castle's outside of the Disney franchise.
A little too much time spent overanalyzing what is a marginal film. The story is horrible for small children. I won't explain why as to not ruin the plot, but my daughter was upset until the very very end.
