Disney Universal or both

Meaning that the people on the extremes tend to be a lot more vocal then the people with the balanced views.
Yes, I agree with that. And to confess if you haven't figured it out yet, I am pretty much vocal for disney. Uni has always seemed like the "copy" for lack of a better term of Disney. But everyones entitled to their own opinion.

Personally I don't have any brand loyalty and it really doesn't make a difference to me who came first, all this is important is how good the product is. At the moment both Disney and Uni are offering a product I am willing to pay for.

And can we all agree they completely ruined Spiderman? I'm an 80s kid like a lot of people here and it's just terrible. Toby McGuire? Come on. They just made it ultra lame and it makes me not want to ride the attraction.
Just wanted to point out (even though I think it was already stated) that The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is NOT based on the Tobey Maguire movies. In fact I believe the ride opened before the movies premiered. You are seriously missing out not wanting to ride this because of the original Spider trilogy. Heck, I'm not fond of Star Wars but I ride Star Tours every time I visit DHS because it's a fun ride, not because I enjoyed the movies.

I have been a local since 2009, but if I were to plan an Orlando vacation, here is what my plan would be.

2 nights Portofino Bay/3 days Uni Parks. 3 nights JWMarriott@Grande Lakes, and hit SeaWorld, Aquatica, and The MK one day each.

Correct, Spider ride opened in 1999, the first Sam Rami movie was released in 2002.

There's a reason why the look of the Fox Kids cartoon is so prominent in the pre-show and queue areas.

I really don't get the whole point of the hate towards uni. I Mean if you don't like uni because your in a Disney bubble.
Ok we get it. Really we do. The op simply asked disney, uni, or both. The op didn't ask about a comparison or why you liked said park.

We always do both. We love uni as much as disney. Uni is an amazing park and if you over look it then you are doing yourself an injustice. I say if you have never been go and see of your family enjoy it. :)

Really? Usually when I come across people they are either all for one or the other
You're new, but you'll see the majority have a balanced view and can enjoy both.

You'll see a minority who can't or won't and protest as such.

You'll also see a few trolls who just like to make a big noise. And a few who can't bear anything bad said about the Mouse.

Well said! I prefer Disney over Universal any day of the week, but when people speak ill of Universal I'll take up for them because it's still a great place to enjoy.

I have not see the hate towards universal or Disney in this thread that I have seen in others. In fact if you look you will see I actually got some advice from a universal fan. I think everyone here knows I love Disney and have never been to Universal. I will go sometime probably in 2015. I think I will like it but since I am a DVC owner I will probably keep going to WDWs parks much more often. That is an advantage Disney has with their timeshares, property size and transportation options.

Another reality is that the companies actually help each other grow. There are currently approximately 40,000 hotel, timeshare and camping sites on WDW property, I included Bonnet Creek in this number only because to get to it you have to enter WDW. Universal draws a large portion. Of their out of state customers from people staying their. Disney also has customers staying longer in their property because of Universal. In fact Disney will actually make more from a customer staying in a deluxe hotel an extra day than Universal makes in ticket sales for that day. In reality while Universal Florida most likely never would have been built if it were not for WDW, it is also most likely DHS never would have been built if it weren't for Universal. The 2 parks need each other to grow and when either one advertises and brings more people to Orlando they both win and most importantly Orlando wins. Thanks to both of them Orlando is now the 4th larges city in Florida. And in the 2020s when both parks have expanded Orlando will be even larger.

On our last trip, we spent one day at UNI, and decided that this year we would split our stay between both. We will be onsite at WDW for 7 days, and then UNI for 4. If this works out, it may be longer stays at UNI. At least until they start making us reserve rides AND where we want to eat months out, then we'll just move on to other places...

Heading for the great escape.
What's the purpose of pointing that out? Clearly, we are all here to discuss our thoughts and give opinions. You don't need to be all sarcastic about it.

Congrats on stating the obvious that nothing anyone posts really matters.

Sarcastic, moi? Heaven forbid.

Of course some posts matter, like mine, its just yours and anyone that doesnt agree with me that dont.

Was that your demonstration of irony?

My wife and I haven't been to Universal since 2001. My 8 yo and 6 yo have never been. We go to WDW 1-3x per year so this year we're doing 2 1/2 days at Universal and then 1 1/2 at WDW (we're going on a Disney cruise in October then 5 days at WDW after). We all decided we wanted to do some new things. We'll stay 1 night a Cabana Bay, 1 night at Royal Pacific so we have the Express passes for the two days we'll be in the park, then go over to Disney, have dinner at Sanaa and go to Typhoon Lagoon (kids have never been there either) the next morning. For us this trip will all be about doing stuff we haven't done before. I'm apprehensive about Universal and the extra costs, but figure this is the perfect time to try it, and who knows, if we like it we'll just change our future trips to spend less time at WDW. That's what happened when we tried DCL for the first time 2 years ago.

Ironic you said that, given the fact that Disney copied Universal's "formula" with DHS.
Yes, that is true.

My point was that Disney started first, created the new industry and ways of doing it, and Uni saw that they had a lot of money so wanted to create their own using all of Disney's techniques. Thats what I meant.
